All probs have very subtle signs of wear and tear anyway, wear in the cam chain and tensioner are very apparent on startup then tend to quiet down , but cam adjuster will rattle all the time on idle and idle oil pressure, also engine timing will be effected so performance will be down.

They tend to rattle a bit but how much depends on milage and service history and parts replaced.
On 60k plus miles it is not uncommon to have a rattle from the vacuum pump, fuel pump cam follower, and injectors are just noisy full stop.
80k and beyond it will be above if not already sorted plus...
Most owners that go aftermarket with the right fitting kit retain steering wheel control for volume and track selection as a minimum, but not all info is retained on the DIS
Have you considered updating to another aftermarket HU with all the tech built-in and ready to go.
RNS-E is ok but is a very dated audio setup now and with so many excellent aftermarket options available most guys just go that route now.
