Rodders,
There's some details on the VCDS website regarding resetting of service intervals: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/SRI_Reset_Procedure
This might be of some help to you.
Steve
You can find details of the problem and potential fixes for this fault code on the Ross Tech Wiki: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16497/P0113/000275
The Instruments don't use long coding, here's the relevant page from the Ross Tech website that details the options available: Audi A3 (8P) Instrument Cluster - Ross-Tech Wiki
Steve
I find this site quite useful for identifying modules and the relevant options/coding: Audi Portal: ECU Diagnostic . Audi A3 8P (2003- ) . Instrument Cluster J285
The A3 has a number of variants for the Instrument coding depending upon the model year, check the page in the link above and also...
David,
Don't give up, there's plenty help available on here
Can you give us some details on your car and perhaps post an extract of the scan for module 46?
There'a lots of information on the Ross-Tech website, here's one section on Long Coding which is what you'll need to use to...
David,
The scan results (if you saved them) will list the modules that are fitted to your car, or alternatively, run an Autoscan and click on the module in the report to access it directly.

Monkey
The scan shows this is an intermittent fault, so you may not see the issue all of the time.
There should be no need to drive the car, just have the ignition on and monitor the settings from each of the sensors. You may need to check a few times before finding the faulty unit. If driving...
Could you post an autoscan so that we can see the modules that are available in your car?
This information might allow people to see what your problem is and offer some help.
Chris,
The gauge sweep is standard for the S3, but I think this is hard coded into the instrument cluster rather than it being a setting change, so you could do this but would need to replace the clocks.
Coming home on the other hand is possible, details here:
VW Golf/Jetta/Bora (1K/5M)...
Chris,
As far as I know the Instruments don't use long coding for the 8P. As you have seen the CAN gateway along with the Central Electronics and Central Convenience are the only modules that use long coding.
Where did you pick up the coding instructions from, and are you sure they are for the...
Neil,
This will hopefully be of use, it's not my car but an extract of a scan that I picked up from the A1 Forum to assist me in comparing coding of the various modules, this one has heated and folding mirrors:
Address 42: Door Elect, Driver (J386) Labels: 8X0-959-793.clb
Part No SW: 8X0 959...
Details on both of these features and probably a few more that you'll want to consider can be found here:

Steve
Ken,
I came across this site recently, it's a really useful source of info on VAG cars:
ElsaWeb - Removing and installing fuse holder BSB in engine compartment electronics box
This is a link to the A5 fusebox in the plenum. I hope this helps!
Steve
Ken,
I'd check the fuse as it's quite possible that the feed wire shorted out when the cable was damaged. (I believe this was also suggested in the A5 forum). The sensor is fed from fuse 2 which is located in the plenum chamber and it should be rated at 5A.
