Audi replaced the jet FOC under warranty. It was suggested that the cause of the problem was NOT using Audi's own 'special' washer fluid which has an active ingredient to prevent it from clogging. :uhm:
You make some good points, but how do you know which it is - a well looked after car or an abused one? I suppose it is difficult to make a judgement without the riht information. Be careful and good luck finding the right car.
The clutches are not very good in manual S3s. My own car has just had its clutch replaced at 20,000 miles. It has been driven quite hard. It is about 25% up on the torque of a standard car.
Personally, I think that is a good sign that the car has been thrashed and I would avoid it.
Indeed. I think my next car will have 'Dynamic Damper Control' or similar - that is the only way to get the best of both worlds. I still have the old suspension so if it gets unbearable I can swap back! Interestingly Bilstein say the B14 setup is softer than the softest setting on the B16...
I have the B14 kit now (in combination with H&R ARBs, which I already had). Installed with Bilstein's recommended settings and I have got to say - great round the bends but the ride comfort is much worse on bad surfaces. I haven't had my 4-wheel alignment done yet as I am just about to change...
Starting with just the ARBs is a good and lost cost option. I had Stage 2 and ARBs done in the same go and handling improved a lot with only a slight affect to the comfort. I got coilovers earlier this week and can absolutely fly round corners now but the ride is a lot firmer, which doesn't...
Also surprised here. It is subjective, but it transformed the car for me when I went to Stage 1. Did you buy second hand - is it possible it was already mapped?
Thanks TimG. I guess my thinking is that the difference between 13.5kg (MTM) and (9kg) OZ was quite a lot and I have heard a lot of people say it affects the car's turn-in which I don;t think is the best as it is.
Answers of "...it had no discernible affect on the handling..." are perfectly valid. I just want to get a feel for what to expect - don't want to spend out on expensive lightweight wheels only to find they don't actually offer an advantage over the heavier, better looking ones...
Here is a very interesting article on a similar matter:
Effects of Upsized Wheels and Tires Tested - Tech Dept. - Car and Driver
Going from stock to MTM would yield a 12% - 13% increase in wheel weight (where wheel = rim + tyre). Based on the figures in this article I guess the 0-60 would...
My 2010 S3 comes with 18" 7.5J ET54 wheels. These are 11.5kg. My question is to all those with spacers or lower offset wheels fitted - how has it affected the handling of the car? I am particularly interested in the opinions of those who have just fitted spacers with standard wheels.
I am...
It does depends on the offset and width of the wheels you have. But the OP says he is totally standard. I find this thread interesting - I am looking at a new set of wheels for a lowered S3. QST have advised that they have fitted many sets of the wheels with 235/35 that I am looking to buy on...
Thanks Warren. All good advice. The reason I wanted to buy now was I need 4 new tyres in the next month and didn't want to replace them and then wait nearly a year to change the wheels. What is the size of your current wheels?
The 8.5J you are talking about - were they genuine Audi wheels...
Thanks Mike. I will give it a go. It did actually happen in the winter after a cold day but I managed to clear some blockage with a pin. I am using pre-mixed fluid which was purchased in the winter time so I assumed it would be correct. perhaps my bad there.
I could have been clearer. When I say same issue I mean the washer isn't working. Pump is fine. Just skimmed the thread and first post says it is blocked - that is the problem I have.
Yeah but you know what it is like - you have a nagging feeling "I like this but I think it could look a bit chavy..." and then someone says - "You know what, I think it would look chavy...". Doesn't help. Well it does - but I am having a tough time deciding what to do...
I am not a huge fan...
...are so close to not working it is too much of a risk for when I get my (already ordered) coilovers fitted. If things change just slightly only slighty I could be f**ked.
I am gutted - they were perfect (apart from the size!)
And Paddy, how do you feel about BBS wheels but with Audi centre...
