    Tim D's B9 S4 Avant Thread

@Keef have changed direction a bit - Jag XF Sportbrake 2.0 (250hp) R-Sport. Sub £10k lease cost, and a change of scene for a couple of years. Audi did offer to quote me for a replacement S4, but lease cost was over £20k over 2 years - jokers! If you want to pick up the gist of playing the...

    Tim D's B9 S4 Avant Thread

Time for an end-of-term report for my S4 - which went back to the leasing company last week. Total distance covered: 35,303 miles Fuel used: 5427.49 L Fuel cost: £6753.46 Fuel cost per mile: 19.1p Worst economy over a tank: 21.5 mpg Best economy over a tank: 32.87 mpg Longest range: 394...

S4..anyone actually managed to fill up with 58 litres !?

I've got 30 fill-ups logged and max fill-up is 55.19. Have one other over 55, and a couple of other high 54s That would probably have been with 10 miles or less on the range. Longest range per tank 387 miles. Average currently 30.13 mpg over 9700 miles

MMI Nav stuck on Google Earth start-up screen

Update from me. I tweeted Audi Customer Care @AudiUKCare off the back of another tweet on the subject. Just a polite tweet asking to be added to the list of people affected. They asked me to DM them my VIN, which I did during the day. No idea whether it was connected or not, but on the way...

    Tim D's B9 S4 Avant Thread

A bit of an update at 7,600 miles (after 4.5 months :-o)... Most things settled down. * button on dash does not squeak, or I have stopped noticing it My back is fine on the 110 mile daily round trip eSim doesn't ever lose connection any more Fuel economy now at 29.97mpg - lowest is 27.22...

MMI Nav stuck on Google Earth start-up screen

Apologies -I had read the first page or so of the other thread, and not read on, because whilst I had had some sim dropouts early doors. in the last 5000 miles I have not seen it at all. I now see that that thread moved on to cover the Google maps loading issue as well as eSim issues - one...

MMI Nav stuck on Google Earth start-up screen

I've started to have some inconsistent problems with my MMI nav. The Google Earth start up screen, that I think you normally only see when the MMI reboots (A view of part of the planet in dark blue, with the Audi and Google Earth logos and a spinning progress wheel) has been showing for...

55mph speed limit - sign not recognised

Apparently it was a mistake. I read elsewhere that the speed limit in roadworks is calculated because of a number of factors, and because the works were almost done, and there were no workers there, the calculation spat out 55mph. It was changed back to 50 a few days later. I also read...

    Tim D's B9 S4 Avant Thread

Update at 4000 miles... E-sim black-spots: This seemed to fix itself. I had the MMI restart itself a few minutes into the commute to work one day, and I think since then I have not had any times when the MMI has reported no coverage. Of course it could have just been that a key transmitter...

    Post your S4 deals

Unless it is a stock car, you'll always be able to add options. However, you'll essentially pay the entire options total over the 24 months so need to keep light on options. My Avant was £11600 plus £1200 of options so £12800. These deals are keener assuming you can get Avant for circa £15pm...

    Tim D's B9 S4 Avant Thread

Update - now on 2200 miles, average economy 29.8mpg with the trip computer proving to be about 2 to 3% optimistic. Back-ache much better - I think I might just have been slouching. Frustrated that the traffic updates via TMC Pro when the eSIM has no coverage seem not to come through (see...

    B9 A4/S4 - Little Surprises

You can go into Settings > Connection Manager > option button > Online settings to see how much data has been used by each connection - typically the eSIM or an inserted SIM card. For me, this is a paltry 83MB in 2000 miles of driving. Interestingly, it also shows a "Last reset date" - which...

Audi Connect via eSIM black holes

I actually had a look how much data has been used by the eSIM. In 2000 miles over the first month (eek) it has received 83MB, and sent 10MB. That is ridiculously small considering I have the Google Earth satnav view on all the time, but I guess that it may be using cached images. If the...

Audi Connect via eSIM black holes

Hmmm, that doesn't really tally, as my mobile is on EE, and I checked a couple of times whilst driving through the black-spot, and it was showing a good 4G signal at all times.

    B9 A4/S4 - Little Surprises

If you are using the speed limiter functionality (rather than cruise control) the car adjusts the rate of acceleration so that you don't exceed the limit. e.g. with limit set at 80, drive select in Dynamic and foot fairly much to the floor in my S4, it will give full beans up to 60ish and...

Audi Connect via eSIM black holes

So, I drive about 50 miles each way to work. The last part is on the A3(M) towards Portsmouth. Pretty much the entire A3(M) is a black spot for coverage via the eSIM. In the map display, you go from having the Google logo and "ONLINE" in bold, to a greyed out Google logo, and "ONLINE" replaced...

Post Pics Of Your A4/S4 B9 In Here

I noticed a clunk when i went over speed bumps when i first got the car. I have done two things since then: 1) stored various bits and bobs wedged around the spare wheel, and also 2) put a boot liner over the top. either way - it is no longer clunking. I think it might have been the spare...

Audi S4 vs A1 ... A Story Of Two Cars

Not sure whether this is fully covered above, but in the S4 you can choose either the Sport Layout or the Classic Layout for the "big dials" view. When in the sport layout, there is an option using the right hand (options) button to change from Sport layout to classic layout. It takes a few...

Thanks - I will try that. After some fiddling it has got better, and I do sometimes suffer from a bit of a bad back anyway. I'll give the set extender a try.

    Tim D's B9 S4 Avant Thread

Can't remember if I got the recommendation from on this forum or just googled it, but here is the boot liner I've got. Got it front the awfully named bootsliners.co.uk and am pretty happy with it for £30.
