    TDI EGR Blanking Issues

Afternoon all, Having some very frustrating problems with the A4 at the minute. It's a 2007 TDI 140 (BRE), no DPF. I have recently blanked off the EGR at the intake manifold, and since doing that I have lost nearly all performance. When driving, the turbo doesn't boost 90% of the time, except...

2.0 TDI Lumpy idle and white smoke when cold

Thanks for your reply :) The car definitely smokes more than it should do, you can smell its diesel'ey fumes coming out, my previous diesel had similar symptoms when an injector failed. I'm thinking it could be injector 4 that does not fully shutoff, or allows too much fuel past causing this.

2.0 TDI Lumpy idle and white smoke when cold

Hi guys, 2.0 TDI BRE. I’ve got an issue with lumpy idling and white smoke when the engine is cold. The issue goes away once the engine is warm. I’ve looked at the injector correction vales and it’s seems to me cylinder 4 could be a potential issue. The worst value when cold on injector 4 was...

TDI 140 - DPF or Cat

Another pic Looking at this listing for reference I'd say it's a cat https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A4-2-o-TDI-B7-Catalytic-Converter-/202501540639

TDI 140 - DPF or Cat

Hi guys, Just bought a 2007 A4 TDI 140 BRE, just wanted to double check if this is a DPF or a Cat? Build sheet contains "7GN - Emission Standard EU4, DPF preparation", which to my understanding meant prepared for DPF, but not fitted. I believe 7GG means one is fitted. The unit appears to be...

    Gargling noise at idle

Possibly, but I only notice it happening at warm idle, you can hear it start happening in this video (noise starts at 13 seconds in): You can hear at the end just as we hit 800rpm, this deeper pumping noise starts.

    Gargling noise at idle

Hi guys, I have recently had my PCV and PCV hose replaced, as the valve was broken and the hose was split. I noticed when the car came back from the garage, there was a soft gurgling noise at idle, which was coming from the airbox. This noise appears to have got a bit worse, and I can tell...

Worrying TFSI symptoms, water in oil, would like some advice

So my mechanic has come back to me, they have run a head gasket test and it has come back completely fine. Considering I've hardly noticed a drop in coolant in 8k miles, I'm now wondering if it is head gasket. Compression test has come back good too. Now thinking oil cooler or PCV issues, what...

Worrying TFSI symptoms, water in oil, would like some advice

Never overheated, coolant changed regularly, thermostat was sticking on the cool side about 8k ago (running about 80c) so changed it and it always sits at 90c now, never above. Runs and drives perfectly, no running issues at all. 127k.

Worrying TFSI symptoms, water in oil, would like some advice

Evening guys, Had some worrying symptoms from my TFSI the last couple weeks. I noticed the other day when I was checking the oil a considerable amount of emulsion was apparent on the dipstick. I had hoped this was due to condensation building up in the crankcase from not being used for 3 weeks...

Special edition doors vs regular doors

Evening all, The drivers side doors on my special edition have been poorly repaired and repainted at some point in the cars life, and there is rust all along the seam where the door skin meets the frame. As it's quite extensive, I'm going to replace the two doors with known good used ones, and...

Oil pump questions / future proofing

Parts wear, and items with a known design defect are more likely to fail than a more appropriately designed equivalent. Just because someone is lucky and their parts don't fail early, doesn't mean they will last indefinitely, and after 12 years and 122k miles I'm looking to keep it going. The...

Oil pump questions / future proofing

So your advice would be stick with cam chain + tensioner, and fit the revised pick up and leave the oil pump alone?

Oil pump questions / future proofing

Evening all, I've seen a few forum posts mentioning issues with the 2.0TFSI oil pump. Is there an intrinsic design issue with them, and if so, how can I try to mitigate it on mine? I saw a link to this kit which claims to remove the (allegdly) problematic sprung loaded balance shaft sproclet...

    Replacement steering wheel, compatibility?

    Replacement steering wheel, compatibility?

I'll be honest Rob, I prefer the mix of smooth leather at top and bottom and perforated on the sides to the full perforated on the rs4!
