Car is a 2004 8E A4 Avant SE 1.9 TDi.

I've not had it long so bear with me

1)- Should it have a cover over the battery etc in front of the wipers? There is not one there, but don't know if it is missing, or never had one

2)- Is the rear wiper motor on the Avant known to be weak? Mine seems to have quite a bit of play in it when moved by hand around the rest point, but also a few times has got "stuck" mid way in its travel. With a bit of a shove it will then work again next time its switched on

3)- I found out the other day after 2 months that for some reason the car seems to refuse to make boost when cold. Normally I would let it warm up but was trying to pull quickly from a junction with busy traffic. Pull away and OK it went but no urgency as per usual. Same in 2nd and 3rd gears. Then all of a sudden full boost returned. Tried again from cold and it will do the same thing. However no problem after driving for about 30 secs. Is this normal?

Thanks chaps.

1 Car may or may not have had this first day , a lot of cars seem to be missing these bits perhaps forgotten and discarded over the years .
2 I know the front wipers take in water at the shafts due to poor seals , perhaps the same is true of the rear wiper, this leads to the wipers struggling and eventually stopping because the shafts are dried up and seized.
3 Can't help you on that one .

Most TDI's are like this, diesel is a combustion fuel, works at warmer temperatures, so from cold, can be quite slow and un-responsive. I have a Mercedes C270 2.7 CTDI, and thats the same when cold, but when its warm the 200bhp soon kicks in :)
