What oil for a high-ish mileage S3?

Hi All,

I have had my S3 a couple of months now and it seems to have used a bit of oil... Just wondered what's the best oil to use for it?

As i'ts a performance engine i am assuming it would take a Fully Synthetic 5w40 oil, can anyone confirm this or correct me?

It has done 98000 miles...

thats not that high millage! my a3 1.8t is 141000

not meaning to steal your thread but im also going to do a full oil change so what oil should i use on mine also? i have used 10w 40 before.

Yeah when i was looking for my S3 i did see cars with 145k on them, does the mileage not bother you at all then? it does worry me slightly but the car has had a service at Audi every 10k...
 
mine hadnt been serviced since 57k at audi but the guy had kept self servicing it! but i dont take his word for it! i am slowly upgrading everything wear and tear just got the new disks on and next up is oil change!

i dont mind high millage cars as they go for less and as long as all wear and tear stuff has been done like cambelt, and they have been kept in good condition, you can grab a bargin!

my last car was a honda crx io did 60000 miles on it and sold it at 161k and it still worked as nicely as it did when i got it!

bottom line is gemran and jap cars will last for ever as a block they just get a bit ticky! you just have to treat them nicely ( doesnt nesissarly mean not thrash it)
 
I drop mine every 5k and use Fuchs Titan SuperSyn 5W40 from GSF, costs about £15+vat and £3+vat (ish) for a filter... not much expense for the peace of mind tbh...

My car has done about 90k btw... :)

also any idea how to reset the oil flashing thing under my millage? i have tried many ways including the handbook and it wont go away!
