Got in the car lastnite to see the Engine Management Light on :faint: Apparentely (according to the missus) it had only come on that morning while driving to work but she failed to let me know  anyway prior to the light coming on the car has been returning really s**t MPG so Im hoping (and preying :yum: ) that the prob is a split hose causing it to over fuel/running lean.

Took it straight to the garage this morning before work so they can check for/the fault codes. I'll post more when I know what the problem is, lucky enough its still within its warranty. Car in question is a 1.8T sport 51 reg

P.S. - Fitted a HID conversion on it about a month ago - do you think this is the problem? Has misfired on me a few times inc. lastnite

Could be a Lambda sensor playing up. This would cause bad economy and the engine light..

It will be a lambda sensor, maybe a MAF or even a temp sender. Those three are the most common culprits if you're getting ***** MPG.

The xenon's won't affect the engine or the ECU to trigger an EML.

Sorry for lateness in update. Tried yesterday but website was down? Anyway picked the car up after work friday, they scanned the car for faults and reset any but main culprit was coolant temp. sender. 84quid to put right but im relieved tbh as it could have been anything - thanks to all who replied
