Hi all,

Need some quick help!

Had to change the drivers side wiper arm as it was bent for some reason, so it came off no problem but i did notice the bolt was corroded, thought nothing off it gave it a quick clean with wd40 on a cloth and then on tightening the new arm with the nut up the bolt has sheared!!! :wtf:
grrrrrrr........

Its left just a wee stump without enough thread to hold the wiper and i have no idea how this system works!

Whats involved in fixing this? and help GREATLY appreciated.

I've managed to position the passanger wiper so it will wipe the drivers side to an extent but i do ALOT of driving from Aberdeen to St.Fergus gas terminal and need wipers in this weather!

Thanks

Regards

Derek

I just had a look and i think the dealer will only sell the linkage complete, prob looking at £100 +.

You would be better off getting a second hand one i.e Satanschild and fitting it yourself.

Its so easy to fit, just follow the instructions i posted before (and dont forget a beer while you are doing it lol)

Yeah you need a new wiper mechanism. I think they only come with the motor though.

Just get one from a breakers.

There are write ups on how to remove it on AW I think. Will need to mark the position of where the motor connects so it will work ok. I never and took a while to sort it after.

yes mate you can have the whole unit... ill have to get back to you about the stereo 9 people want it:ohmy: and a price for the wiper unit but id guess 50 sqiud would be cool..i still have everything apart from the hid's and the dts

also cheers to everyone .. i didnt think there would be this much interest.

were quite gutted as i threw most of the interiour away "roof lining, sun visors, ect and ive been inundated with e mails for it all.... doh, oh well.

Would it not be possible to just re-thread just get some threading tools. I think it would be a whole lot cheaper to try that first before buying new parts if a simple fix could sort you out m8.

hi mate

i replaced my front wiper mechanism recently as mine had corroded and seized, and instead of stripping it and re greasing i just decided to replace it.

Think the unit was about £70 ish, i will try and find the receipt and let you know.

Took just under an hour to replace it too

£65 brand new for the whole wiper mechanism so i'll pass on the £50 second hand one thanks,

Gona pick it up tomorrow, managed today with 1 wiper repositioned to wipe the drivers side, thanks for all the replies tho!

Might just get the stealers to fit it they quoted 1 hour to do it but i'll see.

Cheers

Derek

Wish it was that simple mate, but its snapped too far down :(

all fixed cost £65 for the entire linkage then 40 quid to fit so not too bad in the end. Also got my charcoal filter solenoid above the airbox fitted for nowt so good deal.

Got done today whilst i was at work so bonus no loss of car :)

Nice one it bit of a costly brake that shame its not just a bolt that pushes through that would be so much more simple
