Hello everybody, i want to retrofit my rearview mirror in my A3 8P 2007 my 2008. I bought mirror OEM number 81A857511G. I mounted them according to the diagram, they unfasten the Matrix camera. The mirror does not dim after connecting. Can you tell me which frameless mirror I can connect to 8p?

The mirror You bought is for A3s year 2017 or newer (8V platform, facelift), so it's not gonna work simply plug & play.
For mirrors which fit Your 8p prefacelift without any modifications catalogue needs to be checked. You can do that here:

But even 8p facelift doesn't come with option for frameless mirror, only on newer cars (2015+) this was an option or standard fit.
If you want to fit this mirror with working dimming function I doubt that it's doable with OEM mirror, You may need to go aftermarket, with those mirrors on ebay/Amazon with built in smart functions (traffic recorder), maybe some of those have working dimming on all cars regardless of make.

Yes, I know what you mean. But I also know that vw passat or golf 6 can be fitted with a newer frameless mirror. Also in the a6 c6 it was possible to set it up.

All of the mirrors which dim should work . If there's no high beam assist camera they are not on the can bus and can work with a bare minimum of a switched live and negative. Oem have 2 extra int light and reverse feeds

The autodimming only needs a passive 12v and ground, it's regulated in the mirror itself. If you have a highbeam assist camera then it's not going to work since the mirror is for the MQB platform and the A3 works on the PQ one. Highbeam camera's require a CAN HI and CAN LO to communicate with the CAN-GW and drivetrain (due to scanning the road and adjusting the lights).
@Sibmets you can also source for NA camera's (USA North America) I believe they have frameless mirrors for the A3 there. Also a cool extra feature they have is a red LED behind the mirrorglas with a compass indicating which side you are driving (N = North, E = East .. etc). Again, to get this compass to work it needs to communicate with CANBUS due to getting the direction information from the drivetrain.

Hi Has anyone managed to retrofit a B9 rearview mirror (8W0857511989) on a B8.5? It was almost plug and play but the wiring is apparently a bit different and now I get an error message for the left indicator which works just fine... Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Don't need cameras or anything, just auto dimming one would do fine.. all I can seem to find is the cheap clip on ones that sit on top of the existing mirror...

Can u please tell me how to do that ? Do i need to remove the original bracket on both cars ? Or i can just put the mirror on the existing bracket ?

I'm trying to do this retrofit on my 2008 A3 8P (2008-2010 facelift). I just can't seem to think of a way to mount the mirror itself to the windscreen. The part number is 81A 857 511 9B9. The mounting bracket for my original mirror uses 3 'claws' instead of 4 on the new mirror.
