Out of pure coincidence, I came across a thread about Google Earth view on Audi's built before 2018 not being available after 2020. Anyone know if that is actually true or not ?

Seems to be the case; general consensus is maps will remain it's just the Google Earth overlay going with allot of people speculating on reasons for this and most assuming it's either not something they deem useful in a car or some form of hardware compatibility issue, would personally speculate more at it being some kind of fallout between the two companies like when Google wasn't friends with Uber way back when, perhaps more will come out in the wash as apparently "Audi are looking for a solution".

Doesn't look like Audi themselves are particularly commenting on the matter so all just speculation from previous threads and all to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I did ask my dealer and they said it was because the contract between Audi and Google was up for renewal and I get the impression that Google wanted huge money so Audi told them to get stuffed.

Its annoying though, as I bought the car with the feature, so if it goes i expect Audi to replace it. What next, DAB radio doesn't work after Jan 21, brakes don't work after Feb 2021!

Strange as mine doesnt work on my PFL RS3, the maps are there but no earth view, its blue. It has data, but Im not logged onto myaudi, does that need to be logged into for it to work ?

Mine works - but this is the sign of things to come with half baked tech solutions. The car manufacturers should guarantee at the very least everything works for at least the 3 year warranty period.

Got mine going, as PFL owners we have to use our own data sim. Somehow the data I just paid for didnt transfer to the sim, but a heated phone call sorted it.
Audi must surely do something to fix this as there would be uproar from quite a few thousand customers I would imagine if its taken away ? Its probably the only good thing my MMI can currently do.
