Going off track here with the original post but what's happening with your 2.0tfsi Rob? looked like you more or less sold most the bits for it as you had something else lined up? what's going on?

Not entirely sure i know what's going to be honest, what started out as a brilliant plan seems to have become a whole heap of pain now, but that's another story and a more specific thread.

Ohhh...and it's a bumper off job as I've got big hands and don't fancy breaking my fingers trying to fit them!
 
nope , can be done insitu even with large hands, just takes a bit of wiggling, and the nearside is the more awkward.:yes:

TBH - I tried that, but couldn't see a clear path without removing a lot of parts to get there. Ware's the bumper is only 14 bolts/screws and it's off..

...famous last words, right?!? :racer:
 
Taking the bumper off isnt hard.

Getting it to line up again afterwards though :whistle2:

Offside is easy to do , well it's a bit fiddly but very doable and you don't need to remove much to get access .
Nearside is a different game , you need to remove a few bits but it is only a few and takes minutes to fit /remove.
you don't get brilliant access but it's also doable , I made a small angled tool that I used to hold the bulb and help get it in position, job done.

you really don't need to remove the bumper and headlights just to change the bulbs.
 
I fitted headlight bulbs in with the bumper on it was annoying and a pain in the *** but its doable for the sake of 10 minutes to remove the bumper thats the route id be going next time, also never had any issues lining the bumper up mine seems to sit nice even without the height adjusters on.
 
if you go the bumper off route then you need to remove the headlamp assemblies, what about re-alignment of the headlamps when refitting.
