Hi.
I recently purchased a 2015 manual s3.

ive noticed that in 1st and 2nd gear (mainly) when pulling away lightly accelerating, its almost a bit lumpy. The gentle acceleration isn’t smooth and gradual.

anyone experience anything similar? It’s almost like something needs cleaned out or something

possibly signs dual mass flywheel failure.
Dmf cushions the force between engine and gearbox with springs and if it’s seized it will be a bit rough especially in earlier gears. At its worse it will completely seize and become a single mass flywheel.

I’m actually glad to hear that. I was going to ask could it be flywheel related but I didn’t as I didn’t think it could be related

Another one to consider is what octane fuel is used...The engine on my S3 didn't like any of the regular 95 octane. I use to feel the accelerator pedal jump under my foot when in slow moving traffic. When I asked my wife what fuel she put in it at the station she told me regular.... She never did that mistake again and the issue went away.(lumpy pedal not the wife. lol).

I reside in Ireland where all the petrol is bog standard. No nice fancy fuel here unfortunately.

Could also be dirty or blocked injectors which would be more apparent at slow speeds as higher speeds they flow faster/harder.

First thing to do is get yourself a torque pro ELM327 OBD dongle and the torque pro app. Use it to scan for fault codes yourself (and clear if you want), and also check the misfire counts which it stores (for last drive, and average over the last 10 drives). For such little money it's well worth having to keep an eye on your car without having to go to a garage.

If the dual mass flywheel is guffed you will find the car jerky / clunky in the low gears when going gently on and off the accelerator.

There are a lot of things it could be, but first thing is to check for codes / misfires as above and go from there.

The car is very jerky in low gears

Certainly on my old 3.2 the guffed DMF could be heard physically clunking from one way to the other when going from gentle acceleration to gentle deceleration (engine breaking). That car was a ****** to pull away smoothly, but I just put up with it, for about 80k miles. It was made much worse when the car had running problems such as failing coil packs and a dirty inlet manifold which made the engine a bit lumpy as well.
