S3 Creaky clutch pedal

Hi all, new to the forum, well at least newly signed up, have lurked a while now.
Have owned my 09 S3 for a couple of years and absolutely love it (altho must admit to constantly looking for a reason not to px to an S4).
Mine is a std spec low miles manual , but Tbh I bought purely for the condition and performance as I'm not too fussed about the upper spec models.
And now the problem, It has developed a creaky clutch pedal in the last 6 months which got a lot worse yesterday. Had it serviced at a specialist garage last month and asked them to look at the pedal. The result being, when I picked it up they kindly confirmed that the clutch pedal was creaky.....thanks for that.

Question is, as I'm sure it simply needs the pivot bolt greasing but how easy is it to get to? I've failed at the first hurdle of trying to get the lower dash panel removed not to mention getting the apparently easy to remove light switch out. I guess if I can get to it, not to remove the bolt completely due to the return spring but tap it out halfway and grease what I can can

Also seems to be a problem with Golfs, not surprising really
Had a couple of hours this morning to have a go
Remove fuse cover and take the one screw out.
Remove light switch.
Remove 2 screws in lower dash panel
Remove panel , sit in seat and pull towards you, hardest part is upper left side, but it will come with a bit of perseverance. Remove OBD port.
Remove the one screw holding the plastic air vent and pull off so you can get access.
I was thinking the creak was coming from the pivot bolt so undid the nut and unscrewed the bolt a half inch not allowing the bolt to exit the bracket then lubed everything I could see with lithium spray, gently easing the bracket apart and then spraying the exposed parts of the bolt, then tightened it all back up.
Creak was as loud as ever.
Next to try was the actual plastic piston rod, again lubed it but still creacking.
It was sorted by spraying the back of the pedal arm with silicon lube where the piston rod goes into the arm, awkward to do as u got to bend the straw to get in. Dont know but it may have been the pedal return spring making the noise where it is in tension against the arm, but sorted now.
Big difference not hearing the Adam's family door opening everytime I dip the clutch

Usual story, Took a couple of hours cos I didn't know what I was doing, if I did it again, 40 mins tops
