so I have recently bought a 2008 1.4 tfsi I love it I know it's not a patch on all the larger engines, it's just a quick does anyone else have one on here as not seen much and if so what have you or can you do to tweak a little bit more out of it? cheers

I've got one.
For what it is, it's decent . Enough power to be comfortable but like you say not as quick as the bigger engines.

A friend has just done a k04 conversion on his 2.0 tfsi tt, for the relatively small price he paid to do it, let alone his stock engine being way faster than the 1.4, I wouldn't entertain performance mods on the 1.4.

yeah I get what you mean, I'm not really to fussed it was more if you dont ask you dont know sort of question I'm happy with what it has and wasn't expecting anything massive compared to my old car it goes pretty well anyway lol

I have one, stage 1 mapped to ~145PS.
Coming from a 1.6FSI and TDI it's quick and drives calmly, not super fast but doesn't need to be :).

No difference in mpg, atleast not that I can tell.

And yes noticable torque difference. Easily pass annoying Golfs, Polos and eldery cars on the highway gehehe.

Its not that its a big fat engine but just a subtile low rev engine who does his job and is relatively quick because the A3 doesnt weight that much. Also the turbo kicks in around 3000rpm to boost it away. Stage1 mapping is bang for your buck on this engine in my honest opinion.
