My S5 went in for the recall today, 10 hours later and the car is not done and collection will have to be tomorrow.
That’s the one.@Flowrider99 - That's abysmal. If it is simple bad management and they never started the job, then at least that's better than they started the job and hadn't finished it 10 hours later because that would be incompetence. Mine was done "while-u-wait" and took only a couple of hours.
@jdp1962 - are you referring to https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/? Mine showed up as "No outstanding safety recalls found" within a few days.
Yeah kinda annoying I have to take it in myself. Not that it matters now, but it was illegal for the seller to have sold you a car with an outstanding safety recall.
I wish I had known that last September when I bought mine! Not that it matters now, but it was illegal for the seller to have sold you a car with an outstanding safety recall.
Will do.Let us know how it goes, mine's going in a fortnight today
Monitor your coolant level for a while to check for leaks.
Monitor the coolant level over quite a long time. With mine I was convinced after the recall work that it was very, very slowly losing coolant, based on residue in the engine bay. However a 6 hour coolant system pressure test done by an indy was good and they could not find a leak. I continued to monitor and it was still slowly losing coolant at a rate of about 2 drops per mile (100ml topped up over 1000 miles). Based on the spray residue, I was 90% sure the leak was from one of the two rubber elbow hoses to the supercharger. These would have been disconnected as part of the recall work. Anyway I had both the elbows replaced with new hoses and problem solved. No more topping up and no more spray residue.Hmm I can see a bit of liquid underneath the coolant and reservoir and it's slightly below max, I'll keep an eye on it. Could be rain as it's been raining overnight, I can't smell coolant.
Don't know if they take the supercharger out but I suspect that they do as they sorted out my PCV valve for free which is underneath it so I'm guessing they were in that area anyway hence didn't charge.
Contact your local Audi dealer, I'm sure they'd be able to check for youHow can we check if the recall has been done
Have checked the MOT site and it doesn’t show anything outstanding.
I have only had the car since last November
Indeed illegal if it's 'known', however many dealers don't even check so they can claim that they weren't aware of the recall! As I have noted, it is illegal to sell a car with an outstanding safety recall so I would expect the car that @Darren McDonnell bought would have already had it done, and the MOT site check proves it. But asking a dealer to check would give peace of mind. The work code is 24DP.
That's so long! Mine's already shown as doneFinally! Thirteen months after I had the 24DP recall done, Audi has updated the information.
I know! I've spent all that time in a war of words with Audi UK Customer Services and the dealer in which both repeatedly denied it was their responsibility. But I was relentless and would not back down. That's so long! Mine's already shown as done
