Hi all,

I’m thrilled I can now say I’m an owner of an Audi A3. I was searching for nearly half a year .

Anyway, overall I’m ecstatic however I have noticed a couple of things wrong with the car.

The vehicle has Audi Sound System which obviously has a sub in the boot. I have the issue where there’s no ability to adjust the volume of the sub. I’ve seen a couple threads about it but most of it went over my head unfortunately. Is this something that my local centre can fix???

The other issue with the car is with the wheel. It’s off centre. REALLY ANNOYING. It’s not by much, maybe only a CM but if I hold the wheel dead straight the car pulls to the right. I’ve tried different loads on different roads to make sure it wasn’t a road camber issue and it’s not. Again, is this something that’s able to be fixed.

Overall I’m a little disappointed with the care the car has had. When I got it home for a wash the car had a few scratches (to be expected for a year old car) but I did pay out £200 for pain protection and I assumed that would mean they would find any scratches.

Anyway I’ll stop my whining.
I’m thinking of getting some visual enhancements for the car. (ie roof spoiler additions etc) does anyone have any ideas. Anyone seen anything that looks nice?

Once I have a few good photos of the car I’ll post them. In the meantime you can all follow my Instagram

Thanks for your help in advance and sorry for the essay!

Not sure if you can alter the sub unless from the display. I just put amp and sub in mines it runs alongside existing sub sounds sweet

Sad to say you'd have been better off putting that towards a proper detailing place to sort the car for you. What Audi have done for £200 most of the guys on here do themselves only better!

Take a look in this forum, you will see what I mean https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/forums/detailing.116/

On your wheel situation, the first thing I would do is to do a 4-wheel alignment. This often solves a wheel-off issue.

Wow thanks for the welcome everyone.

yes I got it from Audi as an approved used.

The paint protection I mainly got because they fix dents and scratches supposedly for free. Just thought it was useful if someone rear ends me in a car park.

I’ll email the dealer and see what they say about the wheel. The more I drive it, the more it gets on my nerves.

I’ve seen posts in the past relating to my model having the same issue with the sub but as I said the fixes went over my head a little. Just annoying as you pay extra for an option and it doesn’t work properly!

Having said all this, the car is fantastic overall and looks absolutely stunning, I can’t wait to take more pictures!

Thanks again all.

see if it has wheel spacers. If it has the cheap ones they do not align properly.Looks like it hasn't though looking at the pictures. As an Audi approved dealership they should investigate as part of the 2 year warranty.

Nice car mate. I have not long picked up my 2018 black edition. I was thinkin the same about the sub

I don’t think there is dealer fix for lack of subwoofer control on FL A.S.S. but thought I saw somewhere on here that @DJAlix had a fix.

Welcome aboard mate. As been mentioned insist on 4 wheel alignment. Wont hurt to ask the dealer what they will do about the scratches either. If you are going for enhancements I would do your research/reviews and go from there, plenty of stuff from overseas but not all of it fits very well.

Hi all again,

Thanks for the help/ Nice words.

I've contacted the dealer who sold me the car in a semi-strong worded email, mentioning all of the issues i have with the car.

So far he's 'passed' my request onto the used car manager but I'm yet to hear from him. Every day I drive the car the wheel seems to get worse, although this could just be my perception. It's starting to hurt my arm along the motorway :tearsofjoy:.

As far as visuals for the car, i've just ordered some cheap black rings, just for the moment to see how they look. If I like I'll think about getting some better quality ones.

I'll keep you lot updated with how my issues are being dealt with and hopefully it won't be too long before all is resolved.

Thanks,

H

I foolishly paid for the paint protection and they did the same as what they've done to your car. I made them take it back, remove the swirls then put the protection. Who wants to protect swirls?!

They make huge margins on the extras. Gap insurance £700. I paid £450 for vehicle replacement (like for like). Paint protection, I'll pay a local detailer. It'll be £750 right enough but for that I get full paint correction and a full Gtechniq treatment. I forget the wheel & tyre and dent protections, I think £300 each. I didn't bother.

Sub "volume" - mines on the MMI under "sounds" along with bass, treble, balance etc. OK you can't turn it up per se, but can increase the intensity.

Yeah im staring to regret the paint protection. I got it for the protection against car park bumps. Today i noticed even more scratches. There are swirls all over which is really disappointing but supposedly they're removing them Wednesday when the car goes in for alignment.

The dealer got very defensive when i asked for my problems to be solved which was disappointing and put me off slightly. He tried telling me my car didn't come with a sub (despite it being a black edition) then claimed he misunderstood me when i sent a pic of the sub to him. This is all on top of him having no recollection of us agreeing the deal based on a free tank of fuel being thrown in which it wasn't.

I'll give them a chance to fix the issues but if i still have difficulties ill consider reporting them to Audi.

If they 'can't' get the scratches and swirls out then ill have to pay to take it to get corrected. Because its black i know it can look so much better with a deep shine.

As far as the sub goes i located the bass and treble a while back and the sub option just isnt there. I cant hear it at all. Its so disappointing.

Once again, ill keep you all posted.

Thanks all

H

In regards to the paint protection which may or may not help you, if you wish to do it.

Take pic of scratches.

Go to an IMI Accredited Detailer for a detail or to prove that there are scratches and no paint protection (usually there is near enough none from dealer) take video evidence.

I’m not an expert but I think strong beading should show there to be protection.

Ask Detailer to write to confirm there to be no protection letter/email (If you’re lucky enough).

Good luck!

I hope this will help you, of-course you won’t get far at the moment because of the current lockdown.

Hi,

Yeah im sure there is protection on the car, water beads (although some of it has lost its effect)

My issue is that there are just loads and loads of scratches and swirls on the car, so to me it looks like the previous owner took it to a car wash or put keys on the roof etc and its damaged the paint, then when they came to apply the protection to the paintwork they didnt bother to check/ correct any of the scratches. I just wish i took more time to check the paintwork when i first looked at the car.

Hey i guess this is just what i should expect when buying a used car, even if the level of damage exceeds the amount of road wear that one would expect on a car thats barely a year old.

The car was supposed to go into the dealer about 3 weeks ago, just after the lockdown. which im totally ok with obviously. I might see if they can get the alignment looked at shortly because its becoming more and more noticeable to me and im worried its potentially dangerous, not to mention the tyre scrubbing.

I love the car still but none the less im gutted i didnt pull the trigger a little earlier on a similar car but in Nano Grey. I went all the way to reading (about 1h 30m) to look at it and managed to get a decent quote. I just didnt think i was ready at the time. The car had been a demo car so was absolutely immaculate. Hate to live in the past but I do sort of wish i got the nano grey. I'll have to have it on my next car.

Hi
I bought my a3 s line same time.in fact the day the dealers closed for covid.
Think from same batch as yours looking at reg starting digits
I’ve got subwoofer issue too
I have purchased spacesaver wheel and sub fits nicely inside it.pics posted on earlier post.
Tha Audi sound system is rubbish but my mistake as all cars I tested before this one had b and o systems so I thought was the norm.
My dealer has to sort out a few issues for me after Re open but all in all I love the car.
I’m a bit overwhelmed that if you need to have extras added you need a degree just to understand the terminology but the people on this site are so helpfull.
Luckily my paint was all ok,Daytona grey, but good luck with your complaint.
Major issue I had was there was no compressor or fluid which was an issue as I picked car up in Scotland and had to drive back to north east
Sure will get sorted
Good luck

Envious of your colour to be honest.

I was desperately trying to find a model with the B&O System in but couldnt unless I compromised on other extras.

My ideal car would've been in Nano Grey, Tech Pack, Matrix LED's and Comfort and sound pack. I wasn't after much :sob::tearsofjoy:

I saw the Audi SS as a decent compromise, especially compared to my 2018 Hyundai i10 I had as my last car.

I with the car had a bit of a nicer sounding exhaust though, not sure if putting a new one on would help a great deal with it. I'm also keen to do a few other things to the car, I have already swapped the chrome badge at the front for a nice gloss black one, looks great.

The dealer is supposed to be sorting out the alignment and they said they'll 'have a look' at the sub issue and paint, but im not holding my breath with the last two. If they don't correct the paint i'll have to see if i can go and get it professionally corrected which will i expect be costly.

Seriously though anyone would think i hate the car which isn't true, i just cant wait for my next one to be brand new so i can properly look after the paint.
Car is class and the guys at worthing were top.

What do you mean by clunk. Ive not had any issues so not sure its normal, not a mechanic though.
It's like a single knock, like something in the brakes is moving and stopping against the calliper maybe when the brakes are engaged. Only on reversing and after the initial engagement there are no further issues. The inertia moving something, not sure. Just an observation I had and wondered if anyone has experienced the same?

On a cold start especially after rain, it’s not uncommon.
Not saying its ok, just that you aren’t alone.

Yeah cant say i have personally.

When you think of where the the sub is as I have one its right in the spare wheel area plus the floor pan plus the parcel shelf.i can just about hear it and that's when its at idle.Might be different with bang and olufsen set up though.

Ah! Understood. They should’ve corrected the scratches before “protection” any Detailer would say that. You could still fight it but guaranteed you’ll be going back n forth so it’s probably not worth the hassle.
