S3 Alloy Wheel Paint Defects

What's the standard of the paint on everyone's alloy wheels?

Behind the spokes on my S3 the paint is not very good imho it's seems very thin in places.

Have they ever had a refurb? Mine were perfect but after refurb they were a little more patchy out the back.

No, no refurbishment on any of my alloys...x2 are worse than the others. Pretty poor tbh...I read a while ago about the USA Golf GTi alloys were the same with the inside gloss black.

Hi mate l have had all me wheels off,its the only thing av had off in awhile....lol,took them off for painting the wheel hubs and in the process,cleaned polished/sealed them...they did look ok,but nothing to right home about....a slither of paint and laquer to be honest

The paint feels smooth enough...but if your OCD kicks in you start noticing things you really shouldn't, most folk don't even look behind their spokes

When I bought mine they were all de-tarred and fully sealed - I'm pretty OCD but everything looked fine.

Best quality wheels l have ever had...and they where uber quality...where these £2500 bangers as a factory option,l purchased a set off a Honda dealer from Down Saath including Yokohama Advance Sport tyres for £1600 bangers sold my 18"s £600 bargain,they put the Audis in the shade really...and the hubs didnt rust either,neither did me Fords

Best alloys ever

Porsche Cayman in works car park the other day didn't even have the inner rim painted - cheap skates !!

Had mine off a few times and haven't noticed any poor areas.

I do find mine are bad for picking up chips though.

Yup...I considered a Cayman and this is one of many 'Optional Extras'.....I mean really....it's an extra to have paint all over yer wheels

Take into consideration that he car might have been damaged in the transport....Are the 4 wheels in the same condition ?

Do you know the paint code for these alloys or a product I can’t use to touch up or spray them?
From my research I have narrowed the colour code to 4EE Anthracite but can’t seem to find it anywhere to buy :(

I know Audi are shut down, but why not start pushing to get the technical spec on what the paint thickness should be, and then get an Audi body shop to test them.

I’ve just had my S3 wheels off to paint the hubs and I too noticed the paint was very thin on the inner spoke arms in places. Not what I expect from Audi. Car is out of warranty now and I’m sure they won’t give a monkeys if I mention it at the next service. The finish generally elsewhere is good so I won’t push for a dodgy refurb.
