Ok chap's something to get your minds working this evening.
Picture this, you are about to be shipwrecked on to a desert island , your boat is about to sink and you need to swim to shore asap.
A few things to consider whilst your boat is sinking and you don't have long, you can only take 4 items with you to help survive your life on a deserted pacific island, what 4 items will you take with you as you abandon ship and swim for shore.
You can only take it by hand , just the 4 items you can carry on your person.

Keep in mind you may be stuck on the island for some period of time and fresh water is very possibly in very short supply indeedy, you'll need to think about it carefully.

If it were me , i'd grab the following items.
A lighter
A Machete
A metal saucepan and a strong plastic bag.

What would you choose.:icon thumright:

I have my reasons for the choices above, what are yours.

For me I think I'd take

A magnifying glass
One of those combat knives with a serrated side on.
A pan (must include lid!)
And a big ISH plastic bottle

- 18year old Balvenie (I’d definitely need a drink after being shipwrecked and then you’ll have a spare bottle)
- a collapsible fishing rod with hooks
- machete
- paracord

magnifying glass, that's a good one and would be a fall back to my lighter.:icon thumright:

I’d keep one on my boat so I could grab it if I ever got shipwrecked! Haha

To be honest I’m kinda one of those people who likes to be a bit over prepared for everything. So I’d probably have a dry sack filled with items that would do me well in a wreck!

That's why I said .... binoculars.... for the simple reasons ...
1, lighter
2, Look for food .
3, search for water
4, conserving my energy .
5 , Look out .
6, send signals.

yep, I knew about that one aswell, good list chap.

Maybe too easy this , so making a bit more tricky.
You are on a friend boat as a guest so you'll have very little idea on where kit is stored etc.
The boat is still sinking , just a tad faster now and you are the only survivor onboard as the sharks have taken the rest.:scared2:
You can only take two items with you and you only have a very short time frame to find something and jump for it.

What will you take in the short time you have which will be of most benefit on land.

- Machete
- Binoculars (that was a great call, as you could break apart and then you have a mono scope + fire lighting and then a container for liquids.)
