On 9th December a new stretch of road opened in Cambridgeshire - a new 12-mile bypass to the south of Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire (part of the A14) opened and has eliminated significant bottlenecks in the area.

Owners of pre-2020 (non-touchscreen) Audi A4/S4 model have been provided with a "Europe 2020" sat nav map update which includes this new road. However Audi Connect have admitted that a Europe 2020 map update has not been made available for the 2020 Audi A4/S4 model and are being told "You will be notified by the in-car MMI when a map update for your car is available".

Customers have had the 2020 A4/S4 model since October 2019 and are disappointed that there has not been a single update to their maps since the cars launch, and hope that like owners of earlier Audi cars they will soon have map updates.

Sometimes newer is not better.

Given new maps are released approximately every 6 months, and that the 2020 maps only came out recently, I'm not sure this is that big an issue. Sure it's a minor annoyance, but will no doubt be resolved soon enough!

It's also quite impressive if the 2020 maps for older MY cars include that new road - it often takes a year (a couple of updates) at least for new roads to appear!

Yup, agree

What you have said is very reasonable.

However my moan is that Audi have delivered new maps to the older model first.

I actually think that the root cause of the issue is Audi have not get the MMI right in the 2020 models and a side issue is that map update is not working.

Very suspicious that 2020 model owners like me did have the option to download the 2020 maps in https//my.audi.com and now that option is mysteriously disabled!

Deleting the map download option means no complaints to Connect Services when new owners cannot get them to work on a system that should have been proven before release.

And just to prove that we 2020 model owners had the map update for 2020 Europe maps which previous model owners can enjoy, below is the download option I had in myAudi at https://my.audi.com (now removed).

I wish Audi Connect customer services would be more honest (however I wonder whether it is more a case of them being uninformed). They refused to tell me the version number of the maps that the 2020 model should have (despite everything in the world of software including navigation maps having a version).

Annoyingly today all my "last destinations" and my work and home favourite has disappeared from the navigation menu. Yet another 2020 MMI issue I think! (A nice distraction from real problems in the world) :frowning:

I was having a clear out yesterday and found a print out of a user guide for Audi connect services - it reminded me of just how much functionality had been lost when the website was 'refreshed' a year or so ago.

The last mid-year map update was pulled and wasn't re-issued until the middle of November and even then I didn't notice any changes.

Not sure what we can really do to help you WarwickBoy. It is obvious you are very frustrated with the circumstances around the sat nav technology in your new A4, however, whilst we can offer sympathy, it is what it is and either you need to wait until Audi's contractors resolve the issues, or you could possibly, and subject to legal advice, reject the car outright. You have now more than one thread on similar subjects where it may well have been better to keep to the one, as they are all related to each other...

You have now more than one thread on similar subjects where it may well have been better to keep to the one, as they are all related to each other...

There are two separate threads about the 2020 A4/S4
- One about the map update feature (thos thread).
- One about MMI navigation features (send location to car, favourites etc).

No one from Audi Connect has told me they are related to each other. Do you definitively know that they are?

I suspect they might be, but that is pure speculation, so unless we know for sure, for the benefit of new owners who have either issue, suggest the two threads are kept open. However if we get official confirmation from Audi they are related I'll consolidate to one thread as you suggest.

Haven't you got about a trillion new threads going anyway .. ? Another 2 won't make any difference

Unfortunately you can't consolidate the threads, only a moderator can do this, and yes seeing as your Audi connect is having issues I would say that the map issue is probably related. But hey, it's a free and open forum so totally up to you what you post, just giving some friendly advice that your frustrations could be all part of one single thread..

For 2020 A4/S4 folks you may find that the Map Update under features in https://my.audi.com/ is now back (thank you to Steve Abbot for flagging)

Interestingly the name of the map is "digital road map Europe version 2019/2020" whereas a few months ago the map was called "digital road map, Europe, version 2020"

I have not had an notification in my car that a new map is available (which Audi Connect customer services told we was the way to know when a new map was ready) but interesting to note that this option is now back.
