Hi all

I’m
New to the forum and I have just bought an A3 2006 2.0 tdi sline Quattro I have a few concerns and would appreciate some advice.

Is this movement on the tensioner normal?
Also rear parking sensors don’t work a get a long beep when I put in reverse
Mpg averaging 25mpg?
Boot only unlocks with boot button on fob
Opens 1 in 20 goes any other way

thank you for your time

Yes tensioner will vibrate given its job.

Parking sensors probably a sensor faulty.

Reset the dis, fill the tank then check the mpg readings after the tanks done.

Boot look possibly damaged by leaking wiper motor or the boot Microswitch faulty unless coded to not work.

Whereabouts are you based?

If the tensioner is moving excessively, check the freewheel pulley on the alternator.

Thanks mpg has settled down think it’s was due to just short runs and bad tyre

I would have thought if the boot had a fault like that it would always be dodgy not just with the car unlock.. as I said works great with boot unlock

Just read the codes and have two for 01549

Mpg is reduced with Quattro models due to extra rotating mass of transmission parts. Give it a service with correct oil and air filter, clean out egr valve then do an Italian tune up. Each of the above will give you a smidge more mpg.
Maybe due a cam belt as well so check history and change if in doubt.
I had the same model as you but FWD only and only achieved 28 to 30 mpg, short journeys don’t help in diesels and even worse in DPF cars.
I now have a Quattro petrol 2.0 TSI and achieve exactly the same mpg with a lot more power.

The Microswitch could be faulty in the handle, which is independent from the latch itself, hence why it works via the fob no problem.

Can be fixed along with sensors.
