Hello I need to drain the coolant from my audi ,is there a drain tap and if so where, or how else should i proceed.
Regards Simon

As I remember, when my car was at the shop, mechanic simply undid the lower coolant hose at the radiator at let the coolant drain through there. Don't know where is the "official" drain plug.

I've got the exact car and did this a couple of weekends ago, don't want to scare you but it ended up being a pig of a job for me. Their are 3 official drain points on this engine, the lower front left of the rad (looking at the car) but the upper radiator hose, and two others that honestly are better explained with just the pics. Also only two drain points, one near the front left of the engine bay which is a bolt in a solid metal hose (don't drop/loose the copper washer) and the other on the left of the battery going into the heater matrix, you have to pull the hose back to reveal a bleed hole, that one was a pain to free up. Little tip, lube up the rubber o rings in the connectors to help them lock back into place too.

Thank you for your reply it is very useful. What was the issue with your car to make you drain the fluid?
Mine is overheating have had a pressure test new rad pump stat and thermo sensor. Going to flush the heater core first as no heating and then the whole cooling system as seem to have a blockage and or an airlock.

I decided to change it as the header tank was very discoloured so changed that at the same time, past owner had mixed different types of coolants, it wasn't a very nice colour either. My heating is almost too good after the coolant change haha! I hope you manage to find the problem, it seems to be a very complicated system on our cars.
