Hi All,

I wonder if anyone else finds this too...

I have the Bose sound system and the symphony head unit (with cassette).

I find the bass from the system over powering to the point where I have the HU on -6 and it is still too much.

Anyone else have this issue? I am thinking of a new HU but not sure if this would help at all, perhaps I could set a crossover a bit lower to reduce the mid range loudness...

My old 53 plate 3 door with Bose sounded awesome, the Sportback is completely different sound to my ears.

Any ideas? I know the Bose has bad press generally in this model but I do not want to get into replacing the whole system and separate amps etc, been there and done that in a previous life!

See if the previous owner has removed the Bose wire from the head unit. Make the unit come alive when it’s removed. When fitted my just sounded flat with no punch to it at all. Have a search on here for posts about it

I'm having the same sort of issue with bloated bass and sporadic volume changes. Apparently the Bose microphone in the dome light assembly can be a culprit of this. Might be worth your while to look into.

Volume changes is the BOSE microphone. Well known issue with an RNse retrofit. Pull the Bose wire out.

Thanks all. Will pull the Bose wire.

Mic fluctuations are on a subset of Bose facelift cars mostly, which a mic change fixes.

The non rns Audi units are more bassy, rns helps this hugely from my experience.
