Just been told my water pump sounds like it's on it's way out. A whirling noise. My S3 is a 59 plate, 104 900 miles and 4 years since last timing belt/pump change.

Thoughts? And how much does this usually cost to buy and do?

Think the cambelt kit is about 260 quid at aks tuning, going to be doing mine aswell soon aswell as my chain tensioners which is another 180 on top and labour will probably be 300-400, my waterpump failed on the m1 on my 118d bmw, normally not a big deal but spurting water out the bonnet on the m1 is a no no

Don’t try to save money by buying a cheap kit. Last year I heard about a chap who had spent a fortune on converting his Mk 5 Golf gti to 4wd. However, he had saved cash by fitting a cheap make cambelt and it had snapped well within the expected life of a genuine belt, wrecking his engine.

Think I paid around £450 for cambelt, waterpump and tensioners incl labour with a specialist.
