I have a scuba blue A4 Avant with the windows tinted and the chrome just doesn't suit it much at all. I've been shopping for dechroming quotes and think I might bite the bullet if I can get it down to £150.

The roof rails are also chrome though. (Not sure these are actually called rails, but the two silver strips along the top). Thinking about doing those too, but maybe it's simpler to just replace those. I understand people wrap window sills as they're hard to replace, but roof rails might be easier?

Also is it really worth dechroming the sills? Will it last long.. I don't wind windows up and down often, but maybe the car wash would trash it fast.

This looks similar to my car, so you can see the chrome rails I mean:

Roof rails need to be unbolted from the inside of the car, headliner needs to be removed etc. I’d say wrapping would be less hassle. Or even painting gloss black.

Not yet collected my B9 but I’m also looking to black out all of the silver.

I'm in same boat but with added twist of rotors.

I have looked on auto trader and I cant find a single B9 that has rotors on a chromed car. I know rotors are associated with black edition but I thought someone would have done rotors as an optional extra.

Anyway it leaves me thinking that if I get rotors then I also have to dechrome and I'm worried that is starting to move so far from stock that itll cost a fortune to do it and another fortune when Audi give me a crap trade in price due to modifications.

I was just about to start getting some quotes on the dechrome. I'd imagine about £200 for grille, fog light area and bits around the windows?

£200 - £250 seems about the going rate for dechrome by a bodyshop

Want me to test fit my Rotors on my Daytona Grey with chrome ? Just so you can see ?

Thankyou but please dont go to the hassle.

I'm looking in the B9 members photos threads for ideas.

I masked mine off and sprayed the chrome trim Matt black. Cost me about £10 as i used free papers lol
