Hi all,

So i'm looking at replacing the fuel filter in my A3 TDI 2.0 2005 (BKD engine)

Bit confused as to what filter i require euro carparts etc throw up different fitment sizes...

The fule filter housing has the code on of 1KO 127 400E

I've emailed MANN help, but didn't know if anyone knows which one i require?

I was looking at https://catalog.mann-filter.com/EU/eng/catalog/MANN-FILTER Katalog Europa/Vehicles/CARS + TRANSPORTERS/AUDI/A3 + Cabriolet (8P)/2.0 TDI BKD, BMM, CBAB, CFFB, CLJA (T00000000133350)/Fuel Filter/PU 936~1 x

Cheers! :smile new:

Just pop into Europarts, I always bought the Mann filter there for my previous A3 Bkd. Just enter your reg number on their website and the right one comes up.

There were 2 different makes of fuel filter housings used by VAG group on Diesel engines , Mann & Hummel was one, the other was UFI, and the make is written on the label/markings on the outside of the filter housing .
If your filter housing has the part number 1KO 127 400E then your car has the Mann & Hummel set-up and does NOT use the PU936/1 filter as shown in the first link, that is the filter for the UFI -made housing.
The second link (the filter with the so-called ‘Olympic rings’ shaped seal in the kit) is for the Mann & Hummel brand filter housing .
They obviously are not interchangeable!
I now own the A3 referred to by SootySport and it has the UFI -type filter housing so I always use the PU936/1 filter.
Hope that all makes sense?

As above - as far as I know, the UFI filter cannister does not use the "Olympic rings" blue gasket

Thanks guys, ordered the 'Olympic rings' type filter. Just need it to stop raining for a bit lol! :icon thumright:

Hey guys, went to replace the filter today....
It seems really hard to remove it from the housing, tried to pry one side with a screwdriver but doesn’t seem to work.
It’s almost like it’s created a vacuum and is pulling it down?
Any hints or tips on removal?

Seems to be a tight fit on this model. My UFI version (no Olympic rings) just lifts out
