All,

I know there are a huge list of parameters for start/stop to work, however no matter how short or long the journey, how warm or col the car is/outside the car, the start stop never works.

Not too much of a problem as im not a huge fan of it, but always good to know its working.

When stopped the A light shows up with the line through it so it is trying to activate, anyone any ideas of common problems?

I first thought it could be the battery as its the original battery on it and its a 2010 car, but not sure.

TIA

Ryan

Start Stop is in the A3 is very temperamental. As you say the originally battery won’t help but others have reported that even with a new battery it’s far from perfect. If you need a battery, www.tayna.co.uk is the place. The Varta Silver Dynamic E44 is a very good replacement.

if the aircon is on it wont work if the outside temp is higher than inside it wont work basically it works as and when it wont's too lol

so theres probably nothing up with it then just its stupidly temperemental?

Mines didn't work right when I bought the car. They replaced battery still didn't work turned out to be a sensor in steering wheel. It works ok if you have the fans on 1 bar it will work perfect

Mine doesn’t work at all. Doesn’t matter if you have fans on or not. It worked perfect when I got the car and all the way till about 8 months ago.

See if you can get its scanned I know that if the battery is 100% it will cause issues with it

ive got an 11 plate with S/S which doesnt work, and thats fine by me. seems to work for a day or so after a long drive (200 mile trip), then stops working again so would say battery.

tbh though its just a means for them to bring down the emissions figures when new. in reality it does no real good.

A nine year old battery is on its last legs, changed my 2010 battery early this year and that’s a non start stop version.
