Hi,
Recently left my car in for Mot at a local garage, since then I have had my car entered into twice. No damage to doors or windows and no sign of forced entry. First time round thought I may have left the door unlocked and the thief got lucky. Stole half used perfume, some old trainers and a bottle of whisky
But last time I'm sure it was locked.
I suspect that the key may have been cloned by the garage.
What is my cheapest option at the moment?, I need to somehow stop them from getting in.

Thanks in advance.

You can check how many keys are registered to the car if im not mistaken via the multi function menu what car is it ?

on an a3 2010 the service button on the clocks tells you how many keys are being used pull it once then pull it again should show it

Put a steering lock into it whilst it’s unclear and also get someone to re-run the key routine (this may prevent the other key’s immobiliser working?)

It is very unlikely a garage/any trade would clone a 2010 A3 key - if they did they would have taken the car not the perfume

I would have assumed that you don't need the immobliser to open a door - just the key blade?

Unless they disarmed the alarm when it was having work done at the garage...
The plot thickens.

It seems unlikely that it would have been cloned however. Pulling the stalk to see how many keys are registered is a first step. Another is to read out with VCDS how many remotes are registered. As you can add a remote without adding another key if you follow

You can’t just accuse the garage where you had an MOT done.
Thieves these days have lots of ways of getting into vehicles. One way I know of is that they use signal blockers. When you press the button on your fob the car doesn’t lock because the signal blocker blocks the signal from the fob to the car so your car is left unlocked but you think you’ve locked it.

I’m not saying the above is what happened to you but pointing out that there’s many ways to get into your car.

I always watch the hazards blink for confirmation

I've had the car for 7 years without any problems, only started having this problem a few days after giving my car to the garage. I don't think it's a coincidence to be honest. However obviously I have no proof it's them.
I did consider it may have been a signal blocker after first time, so have been double checking doors have been locked since then.

Pulling the stalk shows P\2, which I'm assuming says that there are 2 keys registered. How do I check VCDS?

Spent the morning looking for CCTV cameras online, though I don't think it will do much good to be honest. I doubt that it would be anyone actually from the garage themselves, and for anyone else I doubt police would do anything about it.

Put sellotape over your door locks (cut so as to not arouse any suspicion). That way, if anyone has used a copied key then at least you know how they are getting in.

Go all C.S.I on that
