Tbh i think modern diesels hardly smoke when mapped unless you get a larger turbo ect, even then if its tuned properly you don't see as much as you would think. So when I bought the b7 last Sunday. The cruise home was less of a cruise because the cruise control didn't work. Today whilst having an mot, I fitted a new clutch switch. Safe to say, I did cruise home.
Thanks to the forum. That's another little fix that I learned from here...
Next up is to map or NOT to map, that is the question posed. I know all the pros for mapping but my biggest bugbear after a map is the smoke. My car currently doesn't smoke at all. Very unusual for a diesel, but is true.
Where as the wives Alfa goes like a scolded cat, it does chuck out some smoke.
So do I go slow and clear or fast and dirty?

My previous car was a 3.0 v6 turbo diesel Mercedes i had a conservative map with 270hp 600nm and it never had black smoke under acceleration the exhaust tips got a bit of soot on them but id say thats more than normal, being a common rail helped aswell though (im not sure if your engine is a common rail).
Also a few mates of mine have had mapped 125d’s with no smoke, a mapped 350hp 535d with enough torque to pull king kong around with also with no smoke and an 18 plate 335d pushing 400hp also no smoke.
On the flip side half the 90’s diesel **** boxes smoke like mad but thats old tech now I'm sure your cars past era.
Just map it mate diesels see the best results you wont get anywhere near 200hp without drastic changes so a map should get you closer to the 140 ish mark i would of thought but the torque improvement will be worth its weight in gold.
