Audi Extended warranty - anyone done it?

I've heard that VW have dropped the "extended warranty from factory" option in the latest price/spec listing, I'd guess same for Audi and I wonder why.

Last day for this and mysteriously the numbers have gone down.

£375.48 for all component cover and £250 excess
or
£306.33 for named component and £250 excess

are the two I'm considering. I have no idea why on the last day it is suddenly £356 cheaper for the all component! Cheeky beggars. I would not be doing this at all if it wasn't for the gearbox. :(

So confused, don't know what to do!

I came across this very helpful thread as I'm looking into extending the warranty on my 2015 RS5 with the official Audi Extended Warranty product. It's very interesting that the price went down for you on the last day! Do you mean the last day before the expiry of your warranty, or day 30 after expiry, as I see they still offer cover if just out of warranty?

Has anyone else experienced a last-minute price drop?

Thanks :)

I pay around £370(250 excess ) per year for my a4 b8 2012 with 77k on board and I actually used the warranty against a hefty bill...£1800...was paid straight away no ifs no but s

The audi warranty website is rather strange. If your car is over 30 days before the end of the warranty, the website show prices for cars that have no warranty. If the car is under 30 days before the warranty expires, then you are shown the correct price (which is lower).
How do I know this? I called audi as I too have noticed this weird pricing and wanted to ensure I paid the correct price.

It was the last day of my original year 4 warranty.

Thanks, I thought so and I hope this happens to me!

Agreed, it is odd. When I first tried to get a quote online, I could only choose a start date 30+ days from now, and the quote was high. Then I called them and tried to get a quote over the phone but was told that quotes can only be given online. I mentioned the 30+ day start date issue and was told to try again after my warranty was linked/registered or some such terminology. On the second attempt it loaded the correct start date, i.e. the expiry date of my existing warranty, and the quote was considerably lower at roughly 60% of the original price, but still pretty expensive.

Now the hope is that I get an even lower price if I hold out until the last minute!

I managed to purchase the warranty when I bought my car and there was no existing warranty on it. It was £650 at the time for all component cover.

Second year i was debating whether to renew but was pleasantly surprised when it dropped to £340 so took it out again, mainly because of the fear of the gearbox failing on me.

Hopefully it’ll be the same or cheaper this year.

Where did you manage to get the warranty with no existing one? From Audi?

My S4 is out of warranty next month. I thought I'd have a quick look at the official Audi Extended Warranty. I have a deep unease about warranties not being worth the paper they are printed on (which is worth even less these days as it's a PDF). :D

The main cover I'd be looking for is the S-tronic gearbox but I'm still on the fence about whether it's worth it.

As I know we all like a good nosey at prices here's the numbers for my June 2014 S4 with 27,000 covering for less than 10k miles a year:

All Components Cover (£0 excess): £1,102.46
All Components Cover (£100 excess): £917.12
All Components Cover (£250 excess): £731.77

Named Component Cover (£0 excess): £792.85
Named Component Cover (£100 excess): £663.39
Named Component Cover (£250 excess): £515.92

Booklet is here: https://insurewithaudi.co.uk/media/1070/31848_audi_extended_warranty_policy_jan2018_nav_v5.pdf

Named Component would seem to cover the gearbox against...

So, anyone done it? Anyone had a successful claim?
My Audi A8 2008 Quattro Sport TDI was £470 all components and £370 named components both with £250 excess.
I went for all components as the car has a lot of electronics such as all electric seats , touch sensitive doors, MMI, etc.
The £100 difference was not worth it.
I had a successful claim for a passenger door not unlocking remotely. but they refused a claim for the touch sensitive door handle when the drivers stopped working. The said the aerial that detects the key was inside the door handle and as the door handle was considered trim then it was not covered! This with all component cover!

I just tried my luck on the Audi website and to my surprise, it allowed me to purchase cover.

I had shopped around looking at third party cover and it was so expensive I thought I have nothing to lose trying Audi.

Just got my renewal for my Audi extended warranty and it's the same price as last year. Surprising, I thought it would go up. £375.48, all component cover, £250 excess.
