I have a 2016 Avant and am very disappointed in the sound system as there is no stereo separation! true stereo systems have a spacial sense where as this system is mono and dominated by the speaker unit in centre of dash in front of MMi. No amount of adjustment will give stereo. I hired a skoda octavia abroad 3 days ago and was shocked how different the sound system was the stereo effect was as it should be!!!
Anyone else experienced This ?

Seems the same with my 2015, I’m really not keen on the centre speaker.
I have the Avant and also don’t like the resonant frequency in the sub so looking to upgrade.
Is yours a saloon or Avant?
Is yours also the B9 being a 2016?
As mine is a B8.5 (apparently).
I would really love to get into the firmware of the surround amp and turn off the centre speaker and any other fake stuff, I just want 2 left and 2 right.

It is a B9 although it is logged as B8 on log book. This stereo system is anything but due to dominance of centre dash speaker so there is no stereo effect whats so ever !!!Its disgusting that a 35K car has such a poor system. Audi dealership says its functioning correctly, they would, but it still does not solve the fact that you do not have a functioning stereo system but a mono with lots of speakers! I wonder if there is a f ix for this?

I’m tempted to disconnect it. I will try laying a thick cloth on a few journeys to try it out.
I think I’m going to have to run a few test tracks on it.
I wonder if anyone can reverse engineer the firmware update?
Or if it actually has any settings in it or if it’s hard wired.
The driver focused settings just sounds worse to me.
I’m assuming the sound setting are kept in the head unit rather than the amp.
