Hi, newbie here and despite the username, I'm on the prowl for an RS3, rather than a current owner (I had one on order last year before the EU ruined things with the emission changes!).

I'd like to post a link, but the system won't let me (fair enough, new here), I'm promise I'm not associated (far from it!!!), but does anyone know the Merlin Purple RS3 currently at S-S-C (.co.uk). It is the one that had reg plate 400OO.

I'm keen to know its history, because quite surprisingly, it is still in stock some weeks (maybe months?) later. When I queried about it (having spotted some damage to bodywork in the photos they've taken), they said it was immaculate and that what I'm seeing it merely a shadow or reflection (no it isn't); I also asked if they own the car or whether it is SOR and they said they are in the middle of buying it, which again doesn't make much sense.

Interested to know if anyone knows the owner, history, or has been to see the car (or is local).

Don’t know the history, however I’ve seen the car for sale you speaking off.

Great spec but no dark headlining which is nasty on such a “High end hatch” imo.

Is dark headlining not standard? I thought it was or I misunderstanding what you mean? Internal roof lining?

I’m not sure, I thought it was standard. However I think your correct in saying they’ve specified the light option.

I’d avoid ssc

Pretty much and lots of stories of cars not as described. If your putting this much effort in to buy a car.... say it has an issue much luck you think you’ll have getting it sorted.

Any particular reason, or have I sort of covered it in my post?
I’d avoid at all costs mate some of their cars are really dodgy Having had 3 owners in a year! And it’s well known locally That a lot of their cars were daily rentals which are now being sold after being ragged to an inch of their life.

I’d be very careful about buying a high performance Audi from the midlands/Yorkshire region (Birmingham, Bradford area), especially rs3, rs6 and similar. Not to be judgemental but most of these cars from those areas are driven very hard by people who don’t have mechanical sympathy. Essentialy they are used for hiring out purposes. And I know this particular vehicle is one of them.

Any background info on why this car is one?

I’ve looked for couple grand cars for the Mrs’ and as soon as I see that part of the world as the location I normally end up back in the search list before reading the description.

Obviously have to be careful how you word things without being labelled but that is the impression I get also. Anywhere else in the country and these cars are sold in days; most of these hang around. Have to wonder why. So many RS3s are appearing in that area, it is bizarre.

Well some certain people like to show off using the means on social medial such as Instagram, if you look on the right places you’d be suprised what you can find. Saw an advert (not this car) for an rs3 which said one lady owner very careful driver. Then saw a video of it launching in a busy street and driving like a hooligan and the driver didn’t look very lady like to me.

If being honest get peoples offended then.... :whistle2: But there are many genuine cars about those areas which are genuinely good examples but they seem to get grabbed very quickly so they are hard to find.

The amount of cars I’ve seen on these sites with people stood on them is ridiculous, literally stood and sat all over them.... wouldn’t rest an empty carrier bag on mine haha.

Obviously there is a stereotype here that we all need to overlook sometimes but I’m sure I’m the same as the majority of us on here and you quite easily get an impression looking at some cars for sale.

I’m from the West Yorkshire area. Just watch the New series of police Interceptors in Bradford the police even admitted That these high performance Audi Bmw and mercs are being used as daily rentals by Young lads who want to drive them but can’t afford them . I have an S4 B9 and numerous ppl have asked me to lend it them for a weekend for a large sum of money ( umm no thx never would I give my pride and joy out like that to get it back in a poor state). That’s why when you look at high performance cars on sale Bradford Halifax Leeds etc have a large number on sale . Many of these will have been daily rentals. I know of people who are in this line of business. Got lots of stories to share .

2 things I'm taking from this thread...

1. I'll probably be a lot more careful looking for mine when I get it.

2. Isn't Merlin Purple a beautiful colour!

As others have said, if you can avoid buying from SSC then do so. Also, try to buy from the South as there's far less chance they've been used as rentals and ragged heavily.

Well if you are from up north and saying this then it must be true haha.

If they have large sums of money, can’t they just buy the car? I’d guess that they wanted your car for something more specific that weekend.

Where is the new series of Police Interceptors on? Haven’t seen it advertised! Love all the police programs

I'l be looking for an RS3 myself in the next couple of months, I personally think SSC are a little rich with the price of the cars especially when I compare them to Audi main dealers or trade sales on Autotrader. Is there anywhere you guys can recommend to look and what to look out for when buying?

SSC may not be reliable but to be fair their sister company Apex Performance Cars up the road are quite decent when it comes to RS3's the guy who runs the place Martin I think his name is, is a big RS3 fan so makes extra effort to find them, I have a friend who confirmed he's a solid dealer who makes an effort with the RS3's he stocks.

It comes on Channel 5 mate Every Monday at 8 PM . The large sum of money was £400 for the weekend haha not a bad price say in a hypothetical situation I could lend it out for a few weekends say 2/3 a month That’s £800-1200 quid and that excludes weekday rentals. That pays for the finance And leaves a profit that’s why so many people are doing it up north.

I recommend An Audi Dealership which may have the spec your looking for Even if it’s not for sale. They can source Special vehicles that may be on their database eg director cars/Demos and you can negotiate a nice discount. A Family member did this with an S5 SB with nearly every option ticked it wasn’t advertised for sale but it was on their system. Also got a good discount on it As it was an Audi Directors car.

I shall be watching that then, cheers :)

That is a fair sum of money like you said even one weekend is a finance payment for some of us but I’d still rather pay it myself than ever loan my car out. My Mum and Dad are too nervous to drive my car, my girlfriend would be well up for it but that’s not happening ;)

100 % agree with you on that mate not a chance I’d give my car out.

You'll not find any that way at the moment, I've pretty much tried every single dealer. It is so frustrating when all you want to do is order brand new (so you know what you get), but can't! I thought it was fun trying to plead with Porsche dealers to take my money for their GT products, but this is even worse!

This is how I got my car. Ex-Director cars are generally very highly specced, although mine was actually advertised for sale it was when the FL car had just come out so they found it difficult to shift. Got it for a very very low price.

OT The best place to get cars in generally Audi dealers. Google independent dealerships unless you know they're very good, like Joe Macari, H.R. Owen etc

I thought it was until mine arrived at the dealer after it’s long journey from factory. Have the Nardo Grey exterior, full SS Seats in black leather with the perforations but headlining is Grey?
Was not impressed at all when it arrived at dealer. Not sure why it’s grey but have now got used to it. Apart from that the complete interior is black.

If this car is on the cherished plate 400OO surely this would suggest it has been owned by someone more respectful?

Probably worth a look if it isn’t too far from you?

I have seen this car on Instagram. Defo not owned by anyone respectful. Don't buy it.

Give it time and a properly cherished car will be up for sale. Patience is the key when buying a performance car in my opinion.

SSC :haha: Almost as bad as ‘Motor Hub’. Touch either at your peril. I’ve lived in Leeds for 14 years and have cousin who’s a car dealer. These two I’d put in the same league as the many dodgy fast food establishments that frequent Leeds and Bradford road, Harehills and Chapeltown.

You only have to go round Leeds/ Bradford city centre and there’s rs /amg/ m sport models flying around with a certain 4/5 young lads in the car driving round and round and posing in cars they rent for the weekend pretending to be someone there not

I agree Check out Redline Specialist cars in Harrogate for Quality high performance cars .

I wouldn’t say don’t ever buy a car from SCC after all they do have 2 mclaren sennas for sale and other high performance cars which does say something about the company, I’d just say don’t buy a high performance Audi without a double check of a cars social media history.

LOL exactly, look at their fleet of cars...they get some very rare and expensive stuff in. But again like you said RS cars, AMG's and M cars you do need approach with caution as they're in that area of accessibility where they're expensive but not so expensive to hire out and then get driven hard. SSC are probably just not as stringent when taking in such cars so the risk is always higher.
