Saw some oil on driveway so got car up on ramp to have a look. Are these v6 engines prone to leaks? Think maybe coming from rocker cover area but not 100% sure because everything's so ****** tight. Pita to work on or what. Any suggestions ? Seem to have fair bit of back pressure from dipstick tube also. Do these have a PCV?
Ps:forgive the Scottish accent lol

had 2 leaks on my a4 2.0tdi - first was oil dipstick tube housing having gone brittle and breaking where plastic tube fits into metal tube on engine - new dipstick tube cured that (off fleabay) - 2nd leak was caused from excess pressure in rocker cover caused by failed PCV valve which is built into my rocker cover (that one also caused tons of smoke from oil entering my exhaust system)

Definitely not dipstick tube.
But I'm dying to know where pcv is on my car. Anyone know? Have also read it might be same place ie: inside the cover.
When car starts every now and then after it just starts to catch and starter backs off, I can sometimes hear a sort of sound like a pressurised sound. Can't really describe it but for some reason I can picture it being something like a blocked pcv.
But anyway. If anyone is kind enough to tell me exactly where this pcv is on this engine or has any suggestions what to look for next I'd be greatful. Thanks

My inbuilt PCV is fairly obvious on my cover and tube goes from cover to airbox pipe - only thing I've seen is starting engine and then releasing oil filler cap and hearing pressure release and then watching cap dance about as pressure comes out - vacuum pump vents into my rocker cover and so not easy to diagnose worn valve stem seals

Sorry but what do you mean on last part? "Where pressure comes out... .."
Was it stem seals or pump? Can't see where 1 sentence begins and other 1 starting lol

Should have explained when cap is off just rest it on top of where it screws in and normally in older non-turbo engines there should be no pressure in rocker cover unless it gets past valve stem seals

Ok. Suppose a compression test is needed then.
Still can't find out if these have a PCV! Surely someone must know here. Phoned parts dept at audi.even they couldn't tell me if car has it. Great
