Hi I have the left number plate light and the right back boot lights on boot saloon on when the boot is open when I go to close the boot at a certain point before closing fully these lights go out. Also my boot will not open by the manual handle I can only open it with the boot button on the key. It is a 63 plate a3 saloon tdi.any help welcome.

Broken wire?? My saloon inner cluster light stopped working and also number plate led intermittent

Left hand side behind the trim. Drop back seats. Remove one bolt from the little hook thing then there's 2 little clips at the top, remove trim and the wires will be revealed.
The wire has a area that bends You'll know what part I mean as it's the only part that's bent.
Remove the tape around that area and that's where mine was broken. I had 3 wires that were snapped all together. I didn't bother clipping the wire back to the trim to try and stop the wire crimping together when the boots opened and closed
Seems ok so far

Hi done it this morning and 4 were broke and looked as though more were about to go. So thanks working a treat now.

Must be a design fault with the saloons. I only found out because someone else on here told me to look there. That's what forums are for. Best one I've been on so far
When I saw how bent it was no wonder they break the obviously do it to get more money. It's ridiculous. but thanks to this forum and yourself. I got it working again. Thanks.
