Hi everybody needing some help I have a Audi A3 saloon 2000tdi sline 8v I am having this problem when I use the. the supplementary heater I get the burning plastic smell .i no older a4and A3 had the done under recall is there anybody on here had it done on a 8v I have phoned Audi they say not a recall on this one .if I turn it of and smell goes away ?? Any thoughts .audi tech can smell it but could not get price to do as he would have to strip it out

Firstly as there is a burning smell, could it lead to a fire ?? The supplementary heater is electric only so it wont be a hot water pipe touching the plastic. What year is the car ? How long have you had the car ?
I'm sure if you contact Audi UK and explain the risk of a possible fire something will be done. I think you need to go back and really put up a bit of a fight with them.

The car is a2014. The smell is burning plastic the same smell you get from the a4b8 that had a call back

It obviously isn't a normal smell to be having, surely would be best to suck it up and let Audi or an indie to take a look. Recall or not.
