Tyre insurance after 30 days...

So after returning to a completely flat tyre and after coughing up the £200 to have it replaced, I'm starting to regret not buying tyre insurance.

All the policies state that you can only purchase within 30 days of the car being delivered (it's been 6 months...)

Has anyone risked this and bought a policy even after 30 days?
 
You've just been unlucky. Get insurance for the big ticket items - car, house, life(!) etc but it just gets silly buying insurance for smaller items. Where does it stop...

A place local to me (discount tire) sells tire replacement certificates. Basically insurance for your tires. It's cheap. Like $20 A tire. I've used it several times to have brand new tires Installed on my car when they were damaged beyond repair. D3ffinately worth it when you pay several hundred a tire...

Perhaps it's different in the US. But ultimately, the insurance companies win...they have to. Which means it comes down to how well you can stomach an unexpected financial outlay. I would argue that if you can't afford a £150/$200 tyre/tire, then you probably can't afford an RS3.

Yeah but it's not really about affording tires..... if your tires are worn down, you don't buy one tire with awd. You get 4. So it's $800-$1000 (unless you buy better tires and It's more) It's more of an inconvenience paying that than affording a single tire.

Really, you can budget for replacing your tyres when they are getting close to tread legal limit, but it’s the unexpected damage to tyres / alloys where a replacement is required, these are the costs which bite you hard.
Have never taken wheel/ tyre insurance before but on collection of my RS3 I did take the insurance, and on 2nd day of ownership got pot-holed and it ripped the sidewall off the wheel, instant deflation and gutted.
But having just bought the insurance it was replaced next day with no cost to myself.
With UK roads so bad now and not getting any better in the near future it a no brainer to have wheel/tyre insurance.

When I had a puncture on the RS I found myself wishing I had the tyre insurance, but it’s one of those things. The biggest issue is with the car is that if you have a puncture and need to replace a tyre say 3mm into its life, you have to replace both on that axel to not upset the haldex and that’s a damn expensive puncture then.

Just had the tyre replaced by a mobile fitter, great service. Irreparable nail wound, not that I really wanted it repaired - never completely trusted it.

I had tyre insurance on my previous car (S3) which had paid for itself after two punctures in two weeks.

I might risk buying the insurance. Surely they won't want to see the registration certificate....
