While checking through a VCDS scan basically for confirmation of the part numbers of some stuff fitted to my car, with an idea of swopping my AM/FM Concert 3 for a DAB equivalent Concert 3, I stumbled on a controller labelled "Special Function 2 J843" with a p/n 8K0 907 440B, now stuffing that into Google returned many ebay listings for an Audi Vehicle Tracker, so is that true and has anyone else found that listed in their car?

Also any ideas of annual subscription etc - even although I've poo pooed Tracker in the past?

I’ve not looked for a part number but I remember seeing a Tracker sticker on my log book and assumed it had come from the factory with it fitted.

I’ve had a quick look on the Tracker website and can see that you can enquiry about having a device activated but no mention of the cost. Maybe something of interest to you?

One thing with my Audi is, it is not a tracking device issued by "Tracker", it is an official vehicle positional tracker device as supplied to Audi by APAG. It shows up on a VCDS scan as address 30 so is a proper Audi smart module and not just a third party add on.

If its a GPRS tracker, unfortunatly they are very easy to scramble using readily available equipment.

The best tracking system Ive ever come across is an RF based system supplied by Automatrics. And contrary to popular belief, putting a car inside an ISO container wont actually block a GPRS or RF signal.

I’ve just put a deposit down on an approved used car that is a Managers demonstrator. I was told that Audi have to fit trackers to all demonstrators for insurance purposes. Therefore when you pick it up it is installed but you need to activate a package. It works with a driver keycard that has to be in the car or will trigger the tracker when either the alarm is triggered, the vehicle moves (e.g on a transporter) without the keycard being present, or if the battery is disconnected. I was also told it’s a £500 cost to them for a supply and install so I’d say it’s a fairly decent bit of kit.

That’s all I know until I pick it up, but hope that helps.
