Hi All,

Who is the best for insurance?

Car : Audi S3 Sportback DSG - 2017/17

8000 Miles Per Year
5 Years No Claims
Clean Licence
22 Years Old

Being quoted £1,148 do you think i can get this any cheaper?

Insurance seems to just increase and increase mate! The NCB discounts you get are usually negated by the increase in IPT!!

For me the best was Direct Line but with you being under 25 that doesn't help you.

Admiral were next, My RS3 insurance last year was £600, this year best I can find is £925!!

Get on Money Saving Expert, making little changes to things like your occupation can bring it down by £50-£100!!! Also the closer you are to renewal the higher the cost seems to be.

There is an insurance section on the site, however as stated what is "cheap" for one isn't so much for others. Chris Knott insurance and Adrian Flux are active on the forum in the respective section so could probably help sort a quote.

If your work offers various insurances, see if the firm they're with offer a discount. I get a 20% discount with Aviva due to my work using them for health insurance.

Will get it cheaper if you get insurance with a black box/telematics box but not sure you want to do that :)

Use any of the insurance comparison sites and maybe put your mum on as an additional driver :)

I went to Admiral for my first BMW 3 series when I was about your age, and I put everyone I could on to get the cost down (including my 84 year old nan!) they all had access to the car so it brought the premium down. I then rang them back to pay and got through to their US / overseas call centre which opens when the UK one closes, and the woman there couldn't understand why I was paying less for more cover so she took them off and the price went down again.

A weird situation I know.....and I am not entirely sure how it worked out, BUT if I was you I would get a quote from admiral with names drivers and then try and ring back and see what they say, they have a different way of thinking in the US with regards to car insurance.

Sorry for the convoluted story, hope it helps.

Almost 40 and 19 years ncb and cheapest I could find was £520. I’m a safe postcode and tracker made zero difference. Funnily it’s cheaper to insure the s3 than my A6 272ps.

I'm 23 but having my dad as a named driver was making my policy more expensive... historically it's brought it down. So bare that in mind.

I used to add my sister on to bring it down. My dad hit about 55 and then it went up instead of down by having him as named driver. Now I just add the wife and that brings it up. She’s a liability

Not really. Depends on where you live, value of car, miles, where it's kept, your job etc.
