Thanks For My New R8/TT RS Steering Wheel!

Big Thanks and Shout Out To @Aoon_M and @tomwrigleyperformance !

This will be my first post here on this forum,

I purchased the steering wheel from Tom Wrigley, he had it shipped to Glasgow

and I am gratefully to Aoon for the modifications he made and for the fitting.
As promised I have a working Start/Stop button and a working Drive Select button, I don't have Virtual Cockpit (Yet!!) so there are a couple of buttons which have no function assigned and my lack of Cruise Control makes a warning light on my dash, Will retrofit the Cruise Control and might see about the Virtual Cockpit.

I am planning some other Modifications to my 2016 S3 8V, so maybe I will start posting some of them over the coming months.

Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for your kind comments, I felt it was my duty to give the men who made it all possible bit of a shout out.
I am not sure yet how the forum works, so if I answer or post in the wrong place, please let me know!
Cheers!

At least your setup for VC retrofit lol

When I changed my standard steering wheel to the flat bottom steering wheel it made it feel I was in a new car again!
The steering wheel and gear knob is something you touch and use every time you get into your car so changing or investing into a new steering wheel will benefit!

Thanks,
If you contact @Aoon_M I think he is able to get this done, I am not sure what cars/models etc this can be carried out on, but mine is on a 2016 S3 8V and I love it!

Yes, I can see the VC coming soon, Its all in the details after all!
I totally agree with your comment about feeling like a new car, I thought it might just feel different, but the whole way the car drives seems to change, for the better!!

Holy crap, the things I would do to get this.

I'm assuming the people involved have done this as a one off? Or is there a commercial opportunity they were open to

I am not sure what the deal is for other people but if you contact @Aoon_M I think it is his "Baby", He will give you better advice than I can.
I do know that Aoon modified the steering wheel, my car and had to do some VCDS work to get it all to fit together.
Thanks again to Aoon!

still attempting to pick my jaw up off the floor but have messaged aoon_m.

Do you have full functionality apart from v cockpit specific buttons? I.e. Paddles work, full non virtual cockpit menu/DIS functionality etc?

Also did you have keyless start already? Or do you just turn the key and the press the button to start?

Ps I've been rude in my kid on Christmas morning state, welcome to the forum!:D

Hi,
Yes, it is all functional apart from virtual cockpit, paddles are even better than the original S3 8V ones, I can skip music tracks/FF from the steering wheel, my laptimer and oil temp have disapeared, but that will be part of the Virtual Cockpit. My phone and menus can still be accessed/received and calls made.

My car already had Advanced Key and a Start/Stop button in the console, I don't need to turn a key and can start/stop the car from the steering wheel or the centre console and the Drive Select button cycles through the same as the dash Drive Select button.

Cheers

Whatever floats yer boat mate....it does look very nice indeed, the R8's that l have been in didnt have alcantara on them....think they had perforated leather? but the wheel is almost identical to the face lift car apart the obvious 2 circular switches....top work enjoy

Hi man, did you made some coding beacuse i did same change but i cannot access into menu. Also i cant receive calls by that button. I have s3 2015 (preface). Everything else works great (radio, paddles, scrolling ect..) how do you get into menu by that button view? Thanks

You might struggle to get a reply as the OP hasn’t been on here since April 2019! The wheel looks stunning, and would love it myself.

This was an easy fix when fitting a fl steering wheel to a prefl car because you could change the left hand side buttons to have the little book rather than the view button. But there’s no non VC ttrs or r8 cars I don’t think...so wouldn’t be possible to do that.

There is a module you can buy from AliExpress which does the same thing, it’s an emulator. Can’t remember the name but it does the same thing I think
