Switch off Parking sensors when trailer attached

I have the dealer code a wesfilia towbar to a my Q7 and everything is working apart from the rear parking sensors remain active then the trailer is connected and you put it in reverse

Is there some more coding that is required to disable these ?
 
Now maybe I'm stupid, but I would have expected that a dealer coded Westfalia towing wiring system would sort that out in exactly the same way as a factory fitted option towing system would.
