So it finally happened... The dreaded balance shaft issue! Oil pressure light came on shortly after start up, and before I had time to even pull over I had no boost.

Gonna strip it down this weekend, but wanted to ask is there was a tried and tested go to for the cheapest fix? For the record my car is the 140 BLB (55 plate), which is a PD engine with BOSCH injection and without DPF...

I've stripped TDI turbo's before to clean VNT vanes. So I was just hoping to replace the core... There's a few on ebay, some as cheap as 50 quid:

Others a bit more realistically priced at 100 quid:

Are there any tried and tested suppliers of cores anyone would recommend?

Also, if there are any easy bolt on turbo's that might give me a little more power (say from a 170). Then I'm sure my arm wouldn't take too much twisting so long as it's a straight forward swap!?

Any advice appreciated... TIA!

BV43 is from the PD170 engine if you want to do any upgrade at the same time.

Around £250 ish on eBay

bought from london turbo company on ebay, very happy with the quality of the replacement. whole thing not just the core though. 199
