S4 Brakes squealing

I have also read that a make called Akebono is also an option to stop squealing. Can anyone compare these with the EBC pads?

Had no problem after fitting genuine audi pads and discs on my S4.

I upgraded to Rs calipers a while ago but am suffering from squealing since I fitted a new set of pagid rs5 discs last week.

Could possibly be something to do with the discs considering yours are also pagid

Do consider Mintex, Bremtech, or EBC self adhesive anti-squeal shims:

Anti squeal shims 1 Anti squeal shims 2
Just cut-em to shape and fit to the piston-side of the brake pad, obviously....

Fitted these to my 8P RS3 and they solved the low speed brake squeal issue. Brembo/Mitsubishi then produced a stainless steel anti-squeal shim and that worked just as well. Still waiting for Audi to wake-up to the low-speed brake squeal issue on their cars... :sadlike:

Well, just thought I’d update this thread to say I’ve now fitted Brembo front pads (cost £90 from GSF) and had them fitted at my local, and trusted independent for £39.
Unbelievably, one of the previous Audi pads, which were “apparently”checked, removed and cleaned under the warranty visit 2 weeks ago, had a massive chunk missing from the middle of it, and was breaking down, causing the squeal.
They obviously didn’t remove them to check, which to be honest, is poor service.

My reason for going Brembo was previous good experience and also EBC never replied to my email regarding the fitment/inclusion of wear sensors and part numbers.

The squeal has finally disappeared, and it’s like having a new car again now that it isn’t there every time I hit the brakes.

None of the EBC range come with sensors, mainly because the pads are actually used across a wide range of cars and manufacturers (i.e. My S7 pads also fit a range of Mercedes models). As long as the wear sensor hasn’t triggered a wear warning light, you should be able to transfer the sensor to the new pads. :racer:

Gutted, the EBC redstuff pad after 3 months are starting to squeal now too. Could it be the pads again. I replaced the genuine pads with EBC and all was good for 3 months or so...
