Tech Pack Embedded Sim - Full European Maps??

Hi,

Can anyone answer the following: if I have tech pack can I get full European maps onto the virtual cockpit etc for free? Can I use unlimited data in the EU? I would like to have google maps satellite for drives across Europe and wonder where we stand!?

Yes all included, in the price of the tech pack, you get the full Google earth with world maps.

You can switch it to Auid’s maps if you want (5 free map updates) but with Google earth why bother?

On my car at least Google Earth provides the satalite images only with the road data coming from Audi.

Yep, Google Earth is just an overlay, sometimes they won't even match when one or the other is out of date. I'd advise keeping up with your 5 free updates. You also get some pretty accurate traffic info, I don't use Google now the novelty has worn off, the "Traffic" map colour is pretty much my permanent display, much clearer.

Yep unless something has changed that was my understanding too i.e. the Google Earth is just a overlay view but the underlying maps still come from Audi so are used for all navigation, POI, etc. Therefore you need to update the Audi maps to keep up to date.

Regarding the original question as far as I know the embedded data SIM used for Google Earth, etc provides data connections across the EU. Certainly it worked fine for me in Ireland...
