Hi I have a 2014 tdi a3saloon sline 8v Iam getting a burning smell in side the car when fan is on (like. Bakealight)any body have any ideas what the problem is??audi had car in today for a recall lambda sensor ,they said they can smell it and would require further investigation at £100.00 + vat and do not no how long investigation will take. Thanks

Which fan? The one thats feed the interior with warm air or the fan that cools the engine radiator when you're stuck in traffic?
If you get the smell occasionally and the engine fan is running it could be an active DPF regen. During an active regen the ecu injects extra diesel to increase the exhaust gas temp, this burns the soot from the DPF. This could be the smell, my golf used to do it and I was slightly alarmed first time it happened, sounds like the car is about to take off.

It’s the heater fan in the cockpit .not a regen usually first time I start car in morning
