Anyone know how to fix the following?

When I am using car play everything works well until a parking sensor goes off or reverse is selected. Once the rear view camera or parking screen has gone from the MMI I cant get back into Car play without disconnecting the phone and plugging it back in again. This has only just started happening and is very annoying

Any suggestions?

My CarPlay sometimes wouldn’t connect and I had to plug and unplug it until it read, I also had an issue with terrible call quality and the clock not keeping time. All solved with software update... mines a 16 plate.

Hi Jsmills, which version number of the MMI have you been updated too and was this difficult to get the dealership too perform?

I’ll check be right back

Mine is a 2017 S4 but I have no idea what the MMI version is, this has only just starting happening so I think it may be something to do with one of the many Apple updates that have come out recently.

0159. I think if you mention the right buzz words they do it no questions.

Ok thanks, useful information for those who wish to fix this issue. However the dealership response may vary from one to another...

Happens to me for numerous reasons if something out with CarPlay happens on the phone. Tedious. Blame Apple.

Have you tried resetting the MMI, I find doing that helps when Carplay occasionally plays up.

Being a bit lazy here, I know I could read the manual!
How do you re-set the MMI, its different to the A6 I had before.

Think it’s Hold nav, radio, and press rotary controller all at same time..

I'm having the same issue - CarPlay and iOS11 or iPhone X?

Resetting the MMI has only brought it back until the next time the MMI takes control of the screen. My post at the end of the linked thread is the 'easiest' fix I've found so far. Not sure what version I'm running car was built December 2016.

Our B9 was delivered new in May 2016, so far we've had 2 software updates completed, the most recent earlier this month when the car had its 20k mile service, I connect an iPhone X on iOS11 and my better half connects an iPhone 8 on iOS11, both with no issues at all - so can only suggest speaking to your local dealer about having latest software update completed.

Hi NickGun, which version are you on and was it easy to get the dealership to flash the MMI to these newer versions?

@cuke2u My better half is in the Audi today so will have to check on version later this evening for you, when the car had its 20k service this month my dealer (Sytner Leeds) checked for any campaigns applicable to the car and it had latest software update plus the avant aerotrim fix.

I've got mine booked in next Tuesday for a software update, hopefully that will fix it!

Just had my whole security system replaced (2017 s4 avant) told them about this issue at the same time incase it was in some way related. They told me that it’s a known issue, but with no known solution but they are working on it.

Car went in today, problem was recreated, spoke to Audi, they are aware of the issue but have no current fix for it, once it's available they'll call me back.

Overall experience was fine, they picked it up and dropped it back to me so it was no hassle to me. I just wish Audi/VAG/Car Manufacturers were a bit more pro-active about this stuff, I'd read on other forums there was no current fix for the particular issue, surely Audi have a Knowledge Base for these issues and the dealers could have saved themselves a trip to pick it up, put it in the service bay and then drop it back by just saying "Audi are aware of an issue with CarPlay on the Audi A4 B9 and are working with Apple to resolve the issue, if I take your contact details we'll let you know when a fix is available."

Finally when it was booked in they asked "Would you like it cleaned and vacuumed?" "No thank you" I said. When it was followed up with a call late last week they said "Would you like it cleaned and vacuumed?" "No thank you" I said. When they called this morning to say the car had arrived and they would be looking at it shortly "Would you like it cleaned and vacuumed" "I know it's filthy but no thank you". It arrived back this afternoon cleaned and vacuumed. I've not dared to look closely at the piano black trim :grimacing:

I always pop my Carbon Collective Car hook in my cars when they go in anywhere states "Do not wash this vehicle"

On one of the regular trips I made to my local Land Rover dealer to have yet more warranty work done on my Freelander’s troublesome DPF, I declined the offer of a wash and vacuum because - being January - the car would assume the matt ploughed field colour scheme within moments. But they washed it anyway with warm water and - being January - the windscreen didn’t survive the thermal shock.
