Springs with mag and without mag

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between springs for an S3 WITH and WITHOUT magnetic ride?

You’re looking at aftermarket right ?

I think the spring is the same but the height quoted that it lowers from stock is different due to mag ride cars sitting approximately 10mm higher than non mag ride cars.

Yeah, looking at aftermarket. The reason I ask as so many websites are listing some for mag and some without. I have bought a set from a member on here but the company he bought them from are now trying to say they don't sell kits that are suitable for mag. Not having a pop at the member I have bought them from as he has contacted the brand direct to see what they say

Minus approx 10mm from the total drop stated on those with mag ride.

Has you car got the mag ride and there fore only drop it 10mm instead of the 20mm for a non mag
Yes, its a saloon so comes as standard. Hmm...don't think that will be low enough for me

Didn’t realise comes as standard on them. Maybe be a little pointless for 10mm? That what you thinking?
Yeah but I've already bought them lol

I don't see any reason why the springs will not fit tbh. If some companies state their springs will fit both models why would others not?
As for the drop, if it states 20mm for non magride, then it will be 30mm for one with magride as its coming from a higher starting position.
lt's also advisable to have the magride re-calibrated once dropped too

The drop depends what you are looking to achieve. 10-15mm can make just enough difference. Clearly if you are looking to drop the car to the floor, more will be required.

Also different springs even at the same quoted drop offer a totally different ride experience with some being more supple than others. H&R for example might be firmer than Eibach. Once again down to personal preference and what you intend to use the car for. - normal road, fast road, occasional track, lots of track days etc.

As @-Ju- stated having mag ride recalibrated will also bring back differences between Dynamic and Comfort.

Are there any special tools required for changing springs on the S3? My mate is doing to assuming he will have everything but just thought I'd check

You need some spline bits for the hub and drop link end, a hub spreader to get the strut out and you can get away without spring compressors if you don't have any.
This is all for front, the rear are just standard tools.
