Hi, I picked up the A4 on the 1st Sept and cleaned today as it was dirty. Upon cleaning I noticed a brown mark under the clear coat. Took a photo of it and took the vehicle back to the dealers. Dealers think it will polish out. I'm not so sure..

I know I got to let them try etc. Don't want them to ruin the paint work.

I had this under my varnish but I wouldn't take the car to the dealership, insist on the car goes to a detailer of your choice to get an opinion.

I will talk to them on Thursday, They have insisted that I take it back on Thursday for them to try and rectify it but they don't have anyone qualified to deal with things like that. Before I let them near it I will see if I can get them to pay for a detailer to correct it and have it ceramic coated at their expense. After all they cocked up the registration number plate and handed over the vehicle on the night with incorrect plates and had to take back in the morning for them to correct.

Part from that this is a smashing vehicle, and certainly a good upgrade from the Q5.

Worth a try I would have thought. When I complained about the post warrenty valet they gave my car I mistakenly agreed to a polish. Just made things worse really and bits of polish were left in all the seams...

how did you approach this with the dealer ?

I hope you get this sorted but i would not let them do it.

I FB IMG 1504457850562 complained to them, complained to Audi. Didn't get much of a response but as I had always planned to have my car detailed at a cost to myself anyway I just got it done over the summer.

Just a update on this thread really, Took the car back for them to look at and they said will let you know. Well I go back to the dealership to find that they have washed it and re-polished it. Now having another rant at them because of all the polish residue left on the car and scratch. See images below

I feel your pain, mine got washed “by mistake” when it was in for service and the recall, spent almost an hour on collection with the service manager going over it - lots of cobwebs on every panel. He said when they have it back in for the recall which they failed to do (another story) they would have a detailer go over it.
Anyway, it went back a week later for the recall again, when I collected it they had just had their normal valet monkies wash it “harder” putting more swirls in the paint and to top it off the recall still wasn’t done as the service manager prioritised the valet! There were so many areas of poorly applied polish left on it, it looked like the cub scouts had been at it. SM said they will get a “specialist” on it next time it’s in but I’ve come to terms with the idea that they will never restore it to the condition it was in before they had their valet team on it, I shouldn’t have collected it but needed the car for the weekend and now it’s been a couple of weeks I’m sure they’ll deny any knowledge or involvement.
I’ve promised myself a proper detail after the winter to put my mind at rest but barely have any interest in washing it now as it just makes me mad seeing it clean!
Rant over but if it makes anyone else think twice before letting the dealership give their car a service wash then happy days. Three black A4’s and this could be the last because of this.

Well I don't really want the monkeys trying to rectify this, I want them to contribute to getting it detailed! I got to take it back for them to see and sort but I don't want them to do anymore damage than already. I like the brand but I feel let down by the dealer.

Totally agree, I felt let down that I was promised a detailer would look at it the second time when they just put it through the normal process. Stick to your guns and appoint your own detailer at their cost.

Unfortunately this is exactly what happened to me...

Had a response from this morning, got to go for a chat tomorrow, they want to resolve it again by cleaning it again etc. Very hesitant about this as it will damage the paint even more. Unless I stand there with the cleaners and pick holes in them. All I want them to do it just contribute towards me having it detailed properly. Funds is not a issue just want them to know they done wrong and help to put it right. I can have it detailed and Gtechniq Nano ceramics coating for £700 with 3 stage paint correction.

Insist on them contributing as you are not letting them clean again. State you already gave two chances and they failed miserably. Mention contacting Audi UK.

£700 for gtechniq coating. Waow

I got my A4 done with top detailer, 3 stage correction, gtechniq ceramic coating for £450. He had car 3 days.

Not Eastbourne Audi by any chance? Unless I've missed it I couldn't see the name so it might be useful to share this so we know who to avoid..

Lordy. As others have advised, don't let them touch it ever again and insist on a proper pro detailer doing it at their expense.

I will stick to my guns and ask them not to clean or rectify the car paintwork so I can get it detailed next week. I will kindly ask them to pay towards the cost of having it corrected, now need for them to sort out the scratch they caused. Fingers cross they play ball....

A+ Detailing Northern Ireland mate.

Just to update on this thread, taken car back to Audi dealer this morning, they have insisted that they have intercleansed clean and polish again. I’ve said no but again they insisted. Had a rant at the cleaner because the car was dirty and he started to wipe off the polish residue and he was meant to be a cleaning supervisor. My Ar*e! He just looked at me funny. Watched one person clean a used car on the court one bucket, a silicone squeeze type thing, and a dirty sponge. Mr sheen polish and a duster..

Looked at the scratch and said we can sort that out, for a 12 day old car I don’t want them to do a smart repair..So I’m not very impressed at the moment.

Go to the audi uk facebook page and complain there, that usually gets their attention. To be honest that dealership should be avoided as they have no comprehension about paintwork at all and how to treat a car.
Their washing routine I also have observed at Eastbourne Audi so things really seem to have gone down the pan. We get a better valet at our local ford dealership with our fiesta...

That is true cuke2u, I've had better valets their perviously and things have gone downhill, It all amount maximum profit for little work. The salesperson did wonder why I did not look happy after I saw him do that, She even expects 5 star review! for the survey that I've not completed yet.
I shall be booking next week for a full detail and ceramic coating inc wheels for £450.00

Posted on Intercleanse Facebook page this morning and had a right rant, Now Audi UK turn!!

I know it's in the past now so to a certain extent there's no point worrying about it, but it's your car. They can't insist on anything: you could have just walked away and written a letter of complaint to the dealer principal / Audi UK. Don't let them touch it again!

I think that Audi must have a contract with Intercleanse because I am sure that's the same company that does Eastbourne. Previously it may have been up to the individual dealerships to have in-house valeters.

I think Audi need to know that their customers are getting pretty pee'd off with the manner in which their cars are being washed, then ruined, at the dealerships and I would support a group complaint to them along side any other member of this forum.

Trouble is, anyone that really cares about their paintwork are not going to allow them to wash the car anyway. That being the case the only ones that can legitimately `complain` are going to be those chaps who are happy to have their car washed.

Only I was very happy in the way that Eastbourne Audi washed my A3 and never detected any swirls, let alone scratches before they changed who valets their vehicles. If you don't complain how on earth are Audi going to know, if they care, that there're firstly getting highly disgruntled customers and poor value for money from their contract with this company?

Plus the fact I would never buy any pre-owned vehicle from them now as I have seen with my own eyes what that cleaning company does to the paintwork, so it isn't just down to owners who put their cars in for servicing or repairs.

Apparently InterCleanse head office are meant to be investigating the standard of work carried out, but that don't resolve the issue of poor workmanship now and the amount of swirls and scratches they've cause. Audi Uk also want to investigate to get it put right but in all honestly I don't think they will do anything or even pay towards to get it put right. I would welcome and be willing to support a group action against Audi UK and Intercleanse to get rid of this awful company and let the local firms prep them.

Even Motorline uses Intercleanse on my parent's skoda superb and it was awful when he picked it up. Mind you I did have some fun this afternoon, I kept locking the car using the MMI connect app on my phone when I saw it unlocked on the app.

Collected the car back this morning, Polish was still patchy in places and even more left on the trims and the rear valance. One side of the bumper felt smooth the other side felt rough. Now booking in for it to be corrected and will be sending the bill to Intercleanse and Audi UK. Inside has now lost the new car smell and now smells of Mr Sheen polish.. I'm not paying for it to be corrected after I looked at the invoice to find that I was charged £700 GardX which been poorly applied and left all over the trims. Now booking into my detailer to get corrected at there cost..

The dealer told me I could had my detailer in to prep the car in the first place..I wish I knew that in the first place...

Funny they told you that because my dealer wouldn't let me take it off the premises or allow the lad wrapping it to come on site to sort it before I took delivery!

The guy who detailed mine said that he used to go to dealers to do new car preps but stopped a while ago because they often acted like he was in the way (which, to be fair, I guess he was) and the facilities often weren't up to scratch. To be honest I think you'll be getting a better job done at the guy doing the wrap's own place.
