Just bought an Audi a3 2.0fsi, The smaller fan is staying on after the vehicle has stopped, The larger fan doesn't seem to work at all even though it spins freely, the small fan even stays on when the keys are not in the ignition. No lights on the dash, Had to disconnect the battery for the fan to stop, any ideas what this could be cheers.

If it's the same as mine, it's the air-con fan which runs on after you switch off. It stops by itself.

I recently had the same problem with my 2.0fsi. Turns out my problem was with the fan control module that is part of the whole fan unit. I replaced the complete fan unit for around £120 new, many used ones on ebay for £40-60. Just be aware that there are 2 different fixing positions on otherwise identical fan units, 25cm and 28cm if I remember correctly - I found that out the hard way! Fairly easy to wriggle out and replace from underneath the car, no need to remove bumper. Hope this helps.

Thank you, did this solve your problem.

sorry to be a pain but neither of the 2 fans are working now and the vehicle is overheating when stationary would these fans cause the overheating
thanks.

Yes these will keep the engine cool when you are not moving. So if not working you will over heat
