So my car has had a rattle at start up for a short while. And the other day I started it, it rattled but then started misfiring, and I scanned it and got dreaded g40/g28 position sensors incoherence. So chains jumped :(
Bought the febi timing chain kit from ebay for £400.. anyone had experience of these? I understand febi is a good brand. OEM? So next week for me is gonna be pulling the engine and replacing the chain kit.

So the febi kit arrived. All 4 chains and 4 tensioners. Upon opening the box it looks like genuine parts with the Audi logo ground off...

Why would they grind off the Audi logo? Surely that's a good thing and suggests good quality if they're OEM parts.

Probably something to do with the retail markups. Audi can charge top dollar if a parts is supplied directly from them, a reseller less-so

After replacing broken guides amongst other things engine is back in the car. Now to just get free time to plumb everything in and fire it up.

ha, I can't believe that they grind off the Audi logo! How crazy!!

Glad you managed to save your engine from the sounds of it, good luck getting it plumbed in and turning the key!

Have you done a compression test since replacing the timing chains? Hopefully there are no bent valves.

Car was still running. Just rough and with misfire codes sporadically.

Started car after tedious task of plumbing and wiring LPG system back in and no rattles. Sounds lovely. Still awaiting test drive. Hopefully will be like brand NEw again. Still a couple things I want to do while cars up in the air. Had exhaust off and all time and undertrays and waxoyling her up. Will post road test results :)

1000 miles in and all is well... feels like a brand new car now, power is back and responsiveness also, and also just a lot more smooth and refined. On petrol and lpg too... no more oil leaks either as all seals changed.

Sadly the car is up for sale , was going to sell my Nogaro blue S4 B5 saloon, but can't force myself to sell it. Too attached to it. So my imola yellow S4 avant is up for sale. Would love to keep them both :(
