Has the title states what is the most power realistically you can get from this engine, is there anybody in this forum that is currently exploring this

180 bhp is realistic .

But Darkside's torque is ridiculous and stupid with double torque spikes , a real clutch killer and sub 300 ftlb is better .

I'm booked in to have dpf gutted and remapped I will have a printout and they reckon 200bhp and 330 lb ft I do have EGR deleted also has I had it done and mapped last year I'm looking at more power later on so I'm considering full miltek exhaust and a hybrid turbo etc I want to know what potential this engine can get to on stock internals etc

Safe map 180 odd
Silly map that will lunch your clutch and turbo 195

Hybrid and clutch 220/230

Some big turbo with new injectors 260

After that id start to worry about driveability and stock internals

Yes more power and torque with dpf and egr out so 180 bhp is with .

200 bhp and 330 ftlb maybe possible? but you want that torque reduced and or extremely progressive and linear to preserve the clutch .

And I'm sure it's at the absolute maximum of the stock 140 turbo and is close to comfortable 170 dpf egr delete remap figures.

Well the guys I'm having it done with have a rolling road and are vag specialists they also build race cars etc, I will check when I take it in about my clutch etc What clutch do you guys recommend? Also what would be the best turbo to get and get it hybrid I take it the 170 turbo would be ideal for this? I'm not going after silly power has it's a Dailey driver but would like it to be a fun car when it takes my fancy without running risk of blowing it up I'd 3 happy with about 220bhp

You want a 170 turbo or hybrid for that , then is 140 and 170 fueling the same ?

With modified map durations the stock 140bhp Bosch injectors will flow more than the 170bhp Siemens injectors which is enough for 260 or thereabouts Bhp. Some folk up north claim 300 Bhp on stock nozzles albeit with crazy EGT figures and some bandaid mods thrown in: water meth injection and such !
I would not bother with a bb43 hybrid if I was to modify one of these ( mater of fact I have one modded already), whilst ok size wise for a daily driver, the shaft is weak on these and the EGT are high. I would start with a better turbo from garret stable altogether. A gtb2056vk is a better alternative but at that power level a gtb1749vk willso just as well. I am keeping tabs on a friends a4. It used to be 170bhp engine but we rebuilt it with lower CR pistons and it has Bosio race injector nozzles which- to this day- we cannot find a diesel specialist able to get them to flow properly ! With a FMIC, hybrid gtb2265vklr ball bearing turbo and a bunch of goodies the car put over 350 Bhp but it kept melting the VNT tips due to high EGT. It's now runs a safe 290-300 Bhp and it holds together although not without the odd issue every once In a while ! I would look at a 6 cyl engine for silly power, the rotating cycles means the pistons have more time to cool and make power and torque in a more liniar fashion which is far safer for the driveline ! The Quattro is mandatory, you just cannot put that much power on the road reliably, my mates runs 19" rs4 wheels and sticky toyo proxes tyres and fancy Bilstein pps9 coilovers and whilst the grip is here, one gets to the limits of mechanical grip a 2 WD offers pretty quickly ! We nearly ended into a ditch many a time before whilst taking power/boost logs !

Mines running 195bhp at the moment and still got more to go I've been told it can go to about 220bhp without having to change anything engine wise but I have got a hybrid turbo

I think the most I've seen on the 2.0 tdi is 330bhp with a truck sized turbo.

Got to be more precise on which 140 we're talking as there are a couple of versions (8 valves, 16 valves, some versions don't have DPF, etc).

Mine is a BKD 16 valve without DPF and the figure is below this text.

Car has slightly better than stock turbo (not sure which one is it) and aftermarket clutch as well as exhaust.

get a bigger turbo if you want big power ,the turbo will fail first . some years ago i had a 55 plate with a hybrid and that made 231bhp with no smoke .have a 170 2012 now and that is probably doing 205-210 tops . but at least the clutch and turbo wont die .
